He’s almost as identical to G Jesus, offers lots of energy and work rate but never confident he will smash them in.
Good back up to haaland but I would prefer KDB or foden behind haaland instead of Alvarez.
Aside from the work rate I don't think they are similar at all. Jesus' main strengths were his close control and dribbling whereas Alvarez has more of an eye for a pass and is a better finisher.

Jesus is a horrendous finisher. Genuinely. I’d almost go as far as saying Sterling was/is more clinical than Jesus is.

Alvarez has immense workrate but that’s where the similarities end IMO - Jesus is a better dribbler but Alvarez is a much better passer and finisher with good vision to boot.

Plus he doesn’t spend his life offside or on the floor which is another couple of bonuses.

Needs to be the Haaland back up,not alongside him.We lose some much needed creativity and cohesion when that happens.
I think it's a matter of time and work, sure there are some issues that still need a lot of polishing, but let's not judge this too soon. I mean, it's not like the other players played that great either. Anyway, we'll see what Pep will hold for us in the near future.

his strength is at attacking space, ive been saying it for a year now, we should create more runs for him and Haaland, none of them is built for positional play really

Love the guy but i feel he will always be a bit part player for us
I think you might be right.

However he performed very well in his first season, when many have struggled to adapt, so who knows how he'll develop.

At the moment is hard to imagine him becoming one of the first picks in the team though.

He has to adapt to playing with Haaland, not just in place of him.

He looks good as the solo striker but we know Haaland is starting 90% of the games this season.

Pep had him stay high up, but should let him learn to play in midfield more.

The future of our attack is Haaland, Alvarez and Foden in the middle.

Kovacic was played high up but should be deeper with Rodri for future games.

Works hard but something not right for me. Maybe needs a run of games but not sure he’s going to get it. Had a few chances tonight

His pressing is insane, his usually great shooting boots were not on tonight but he was still buzzing around and creating stuff.

He needs time to find his place in this lineup, it's hard to play alongside Haaland and with so players attacking at the same time. We'll see if Pep will continue with this idea or not in the near future.

He will need time to adapt and not get lost.

He is use to being the sole striker, so now he has to play deeper and be more involved so it will take time.

Needs to improve his game when he's receiving the ball deep. He moves well to free himself but just isn't alert enough when he receives it, loses it too often in very dangerous positions, needs to sharpen that part of bis game up.

Shooting was way off tonight but I'm not going to slate him for that, I like the fact he shoots on sight, we don't have enough players doing it.

His fitness amazes me tbh, never stops pressing.
Him and foden must be a nightmare for defenders.
He worked hard and gave 100% tonight, unlucky with a few chances too

You know what's funny, like everyone here, I thought he had a pretty meh game.

But he apparentlly had 6 Key Passes, with second in our team being Phil and Haaland with 2.

Other than the Haaland assist, I can't remember him making that many creative passes, perhaps a few of those are from the corners.

Forgot he was playing until the assist for Haaland. But he got better as the game went on.

Will be a vital player this season, especially if Kev is in and out.
