I bet de Jong is a super guy off the field. But City have some really, really good players right now and should be able to play proper football against teams like Newcastle.

Re: De Jong injury to Ben Arfa

There are some serisously pathetic mard asses on here. It was a hard tackle and in the law of the game a fair one. Nige is one of ou best players and for our fans calling for him to be thrown the book at?? What? And sacrifice our teams performance? I couldn't give a shit if he had sex with a goat on top of the referee whilst standing on another players face, he is a true blue get over it, it was one tackle!

What the f**k is going on in this forum. gregblag are you on drugs ? The quote I have highlighted is just nonsense, what is this 'whether he got the ball or not' crap. HE GOT THE BALL IT WAS THEREFORE A FAIR TACKLE.

....This is a mans game where physical contact takes place, as long as that contact is legal there is no offence committed. I really do despair at times.

If you're going to shout, at least know the rules. It's been a long time since getting the ball was a clincher in what's a fair tackle.

It's simply not a fair tackle if you take ball with one leg and man with the other. It's not a fair tackle even if you get the ball first. (If you can get ball first and the opponent then goes over the outstretched leg, that's OK.) Remember it's not that long since any tackle from behind was a red card offence. FIFA changed that because it seemed to suggest that fierce tackles from the side or in front were OK - they're not.

No-one wants an absolutely tackle-free game, but with players worth the amount of money they're worth, I really do despair at those who seem to prefer not to make players' safety a priority.

gotta pull you up on this.
By your reasoning, expensive players shouldn't be tackled because they might get hurt ? Does this give carte blanche to players to kick shit out of the players from the cheaper end of the market??

The lad got a broken leg. It happens every sunday on parks all over the world. You cannot play football, or any other contact sport for that matter, if 'safety' is a priority. These are grown men (fully insured by the way) who know the score

its strange how there is more publicity about this tackle than on that snide twat keane`s foul on alfie. im very sorry for the lad arfa but i`ve seen much much worse. it was a heavy tackle that de jong did nothing else

Re: De Jong injury to Ben Arfa

I think part of the problem is with the replays. You get slow motion, out of context footage, and it makes things look much worse than they really are. Not to mention photographs that make it look like the ball is 20 ft away and de Jong just decided to take someone's leg out.

At the time I never would have guessed we'd be talking about that tackle today.

Re: De Jong injury to Ben Arfa

My DEAR EGYPTIAN FOOL you are deluded if you think De Jong made it his intention to injure poor old Ben ARFA- hE PLAINLY DID NOT - THERE WAS NO INTENT - if you want to see intentjust remember the tackle on Milner just a few seconds later by the newcastle full back - THAT WAS INTENT-
I f you were at the game yesterday you might be entitled to an opinion but if you are an armchair hugging five live loving prat which I am sure you are you have no right to post on this site.
Go and get yourself a foot ball brain my son -
De jong is a very hardguy no doubt - he has made bad tackles but yesterday's was not a bad tackle by any stretch and no one in the crowd felt that yesterday and most importantly neither did the referee.
