Won the treble without him playing a major part then this season he’s handed an important starting role and captaincy because he threatened to leave. Not for me.
Yesterday was a catalogue of errors including 2 for the goal - legging it across the pitch to Jackson when he was never going to get there and while Akanji was already there to leave Sterling was criminal. But then to let Sterling cut back onto his right foot - which he was obviously going to do and surely after training with him everyday for 6 years he realised - was the icing on the cake. He did it against Newcastle (twice?) too for their goals away.
His defensive ego seems to have come to the fore this season too. Jogs over to wingers rather than getting right in their faces.
Squad player for me. I’d rather have Akanji at right back (Bayern at home) and Stones in CB being the extra midfielder.
