2022 World Cup Discussion

Euros always used to be miles better, 8 of the best teams in europe where as the world
Cup had the likes of kuwait etc. now the euros has gone the same way.
It was more to do with us never qualifying and me pretending I hate them. I take your point though, but we have the novelty of not having our arse handed to us in one since 98.

Still gutted that after waiting all this time for us (Wales) to qualify it's being held in cunting Qatar

Used to get so exited by world cups and Olympics and now can't be arsed with either. My first world cup was 82 and it was brilliant but they have become tedious and this one will be the worst.

Dull group, dull manager, dull football, held at the wrong time in a country that shouldn't be hosting it.

Yeah, I used to watch every fuckin' ball of a test match, and every ball batted over a net at Wimbers, but there's so much razzamatazz, hullabaloo, pre- and post-match that they have become the perfect recipe for pissing people off. And the canutes who do the presenting? Jeeeeeesuuuuuuuuuuuus preserve us! I switched on two mins before kick off for the Norway game last night, knowing that the programme had started probably 48hours earlier, and there was Yappy Yorath doing he Milan catwalk impersonation, and dressed up like a dog's dinner, that every self-respecting dog would turn up its nose! Aided and abetted by a gaggle of ex-pros who are desperate for a media gig!

so which City players are going to be watching the world cup at home in their pants, hopefully staying injury free?

Haaland (Norway)
Mahrez (Algeria)

is that it?!

2022 World Cup discussion.

Who's going to lift the cup?
Emerging talents?
Side most underrated by bookies?
Will England finally lift the trophy?
How far will Italy go?
Injuries/upsets?

England to win it.
Cole Palmer!
Germany
Yes!
Not further than Italy.
Will be a few surprises with it coming mid-season I'm sure. The biggest will be that England look fit.

Sport is an afterthought now, sporting occasions are like outings for people who want to say they've been there and many don't even care about what they are watching.

Take the London Olympics, people were bidding on tickets for events they didn't even know they were bidding for, they were in effect bidding for an Olympic ticket so they could Instagram or poke it on Facebook.

I don't even believe I am being cynical when I say that this Womens Euro thing will slump back to mediocre WSL attendances because the attended wanted to go to the particular event rather than support the sport in general.

I think you are absolutely right. We're playing the Arse first game, It might have an attendance slightly up on last season's average, but overall the attendance will be made up of the usual stalwarts who were there last season!

Fucking disaster to interrupt in-progress leagues for the WC. This entire season is going to be messed up.

I love the World Cup and it's my favorite football event. But staging the WC in November-December - is remarkably stupid. It hurts both the WC and in progress leagues. The only way that his could have transpired is that Qatar - that bastion of human rights and of equality, deserving a world stage (sarcasm intended) - bribed a bunch of FIFA officials.

Might as well stick an asterisk - * - along side the 2022 WC winner as well as the winner of any domestic league.

England will win it and December 18th will become a national day of mourning over here as we've to listen to ye cunts for another 60 fucking years

September with just 3 games as well - for this total waste of space world cup...
Qatar where people died building stadiums in slave like conditions - the double standards of Linekar are mind blowing.

President Michael D. is proposing a full week
Migeedee wants to give us all a week off work in the run to Christmas who am I to argue? Seriously sad that age + constitution will stop us giving him a third term, he's been a great president. Shame about our parliament.

I’m not sure Linekar is responsible for people dying, building stadiums is he?

Well if there's an * beside the winner of the Prem this year then it'll mean 3 in a row for us obviously ;)
