2024 Grand National 13th April

Racing yes , jumping no ,those fences are suicidal for them and they have no choice or get whipped
More horses get injured or worse whilst running and playing with there mates in a field . Let’s not go overboard with “suicidal “ and bollocks like that eh !

Just a little fact for the ignorant…….
Vast majority of race horses live to a grand old age once they retire from racing because they are fit and healthy and immaculatey looked after . It’s not uncommon for an ex race horse to live to late 20s years of age or more . The dedication and love and care they receive from mostly women stable staff is something to be seen to behold . I have been lucky enough to own half a dozen horses through a racing syndicate over a decade , I can only frown with dismay with some of the anti comments on here .

He is a lot higher in the weights this year and is he as good a horse as last year ?
I know mate . Very difficult to come back and win it again and with the extra weight aswell but it’s looks like the horse is peaking so we will see

I’m not a great fan of the national hunt but I always get a bit emotional on the morning of the national as growing up mum and dad where big into racing and you get much bigger than the national . I can always remember my first bet in the race and it was Spartan missile ridden by John Thorne and it got beat by Aldaniti and bob champion .

Deffo ! Everyone wants a winner ! ;-)

Why not just remove the whip from the jockey entirely? It shouldn't be used at all. If the horse is tiring, the horse is tiring.

It's also not a good look to call everyone who questions something you like as being "ignorant", because it makes you look overly defensive and incapable of debating criticisms of the thing you're interested in. You're making wild assumptions about a person you don't know simply because they disagree with you. That's... ignorance.
I’m an avid horse racing fan and go racing to courses all over the country on a fairly regular basis. I agree entirely that the whips should be banned. They are effectively only pieces of padded foam nowadays anyway. It would be a major step forward for horse racing imo.

Corach rambler had a good prep in the gold cup and will go really close again.

Think it will be tough for him. Gold Cup was a hard race and will have taken a lot out of him, with the ground looking on the heavy side on Saturday I can't back him at 5/1 and at almost top weight.

Limerick Lace and Delta Work both worth looking at e/w at the prices.

Horses have been trained for many functions, for example as transport for Soldiers and equipment, are you calling people cunts for training them to do that as they too would have been “broken in”. It’s not barbaric as you’re making out and tell me why horses who lose their jockeys keep on running and jumping fences.

Pathetic comment, horses provide pleasure to many people including the disabled and as for the racing industry it contributes significantly to the economy. Most horse owners in whichever field love and pamper their animals, the commitment to horse welfare is fantastic.
If you reread what I said, I called the people who exploit these animals for money, in the guise of "sport", cunts. Somebody training a horse for vital tasks such as transportation and wartime needs is a little different to flogging a horse to win races, races populated by pissed up gamblers. It's all about context, really.
