I don't like criticising players, but his defending is truly awful. He had a few good moments going forward but his positioning and passing from a full back position is woeful. His errors put us under pressure at least 3 times in the first half. Not good enough for us.

So many experts on here flapping out of their a-holes it's comical...Gimez is not cause of our problems. Pep decided to sign him. He is young and rash doesn't mean he can't improve. People have already made decision that he is shit. Hell for young player like him, benefit of first season is also not given
Give him time to learn defending at this level.
This is literally his 2nd year playing as a fullback, like Zinchenko needed, time will develop his instincts.
The build up play and the fact him going wide allowing the wingers inside is too valuable to this team right now.
We look better with double wide fullbacks.

I have to agree it seems pep doesn't rate him and has kept him about the club because we missed out on Cucurella. More positives than negatives and its more experience for him. Thought Pep should have taken walker off to get some legs into cancelo, gomez needs all the minutes he can get to learn. On the ball he's very good, almost as if he's an attacking player at fullback....
Defensively he's woeful but it's to be expected, he needs to opportunity to learn. it's a completely alien position for him, he's been shoved up the pecking order by our failure to get cucurella (thank god) this summer and he's simply not ready. in an ideal scenario he'd be out on loan learning right now.
