Excellent first half. Backed up the attacks and read the threats well.
Had a dodgy 5 mins in the 2nd half, gave the ball aways twice and Pep hooked him.

Zinchenko revisionism is hilarious here.

Zinchenko was close to being sold to Wolves for £16m before that sale didn't go through and even after posters wanted him gone.

It's shame posters don't want to give him benefit of doubt to someone who is in his first season. Different players are judge ld by different standards and personal likes and dislikes are taking attention

exactly this. I will go far to say gomez already looks better than zinchenko as a traditional fullback. zinc just looked better at passing from the midfield. will not say gomez is worse than zinchenko at defense. zinc was equally diabolical if not worse as a defender.

Was it West Ham away last season that Zinchenko got targeted and got completely found out? I loved Zin as he made our possession game even better, but his defending wasn’t great. Gomez is a mirror image. The only small difference is Zin was better going inside and Gomez is better on the outside.

True. He's probably a little bit further ahead than Zinchenko was at 22.

I used to cringe when Zin played. He didn’t have the strength or speed to defend and he didn’t have the ability to get to the by-line. The only place he looked at home was dropping into the midfield position from fullback Pep likes. His best 3 games were when he was going.

Not good enough as a left back or a wing back.

Certainly not the option for our midfielder which was his favoured position.
