But that's definitely not a reason,or a barometer,to have him anywhere near the first team going forward.

It's not even his natural position though, he's a left midfielder.
He's still young, in a new country and the league is a huge step up from the Belgium league.

Time for him to be ready to at least play a part, he was trying hard to impress when he got sent off , we need the bodies now we have lost joao and john is injured again

Think/hope Gomez can become the new Zinch. He has good technical qualities, will need a bit more time to understand better Pep's systems.
