I thought it was a mistake to give him a new contract at this age. His speed of thought was lacking today. A very poor game. One of the worst I have seen from him for us.
Nothing wrong with him, he can be played any time when we are 1-0 up or 2-0 up and we need to make sure we dont concede. 15-25 minutes in games like that.
To play him as a starter vs a team that presses well and Gundogan playing just ahead of him who will not offer any help defensively well Dinho is not able to play that anymore and that is a tactical mistake by the manager, a big one.
Lets not pretend this started before last season. He clearly is too old now weve done what we did with yaya and kept him for a year too long.Three years ago: 'Dinho's finished, too old, lost his legs'. Wrong.
Two years ago: 'Dinho's finished, too old, lost his legs'. Wrong.
One year ago: 'Dinho's finished, too old, lost his legs'. Wrong.
Now: 'Dinho's finished, too old, lost his legs'. Hmmm.
Think more sane, rational people here are gonna go with it being an off day, precipitated mainly by the way Saints specifically played, which made about half a dozen of our players look awful. Would've hardly been any different for Rodri out there.
