Maybe I'm being optimistic, but his passing reminds me of Stones in his first season. There's a ballsy nature to it.

I think with time, he'll cut out most of the little errors and be superb on that front.

Defensively, he's fine in my books. Not perfect, but I think being a centre back in our team can be very challenging at times.

I really don’t understand how he keeps getting game time. He’s a liability. Pep obviously sees something that I don’t, but it does baffle me. His passing is average, he panics when he’s pressed, he’s weak in the air and he’s not the quickest. Maybe I’m not seeing his true value but he really slows us down and in my opinion makes us weaker defensivel.

Another poor half.
He breeds complacency with his undercut passes and poor decisions,

It’s all about opinions and mine is no more important than the next man/women.

But I don’t get the dislike of the player on the forum ( I appreciate it’s not personal)

Laporte and Stones have been great for us but not without blemish. Stones especially at one point was getting stick.

Akanji who like most defenders has a mistake in him is not to blame that we are not free flowing this season. I think in his first season he is doing well and the manager seems to agree.

I hate putting a downer on a strong win but the performance from Akanji was awful. This is probably the third time in a row he has played like this.

Some of the criticism today was baffling.

I think some have made their mind up, and it doesn't really matter how he plays or what he does.

Shame.

Clean sheet away from home against a team notoriously for causing us issues at their place and he was part of that collective.

He wasn't 'awful' by any stretch but he's absolutey, 100% a downgrade on Laporte...

Maybe a bit of Hyperbole but he was the weakness today. It seemed liked he was lost at right back in the back 3 transitition.

he was factually very good on defense today, hes not brilliant on the ball but much improved believe it or not, he used to have brainfarts every other game at dortmund. so i wont complain, hes doing better than i expected
