No way Mahrez would be passing that at the end to Foden. No way any attacker in the world is passing that in the position he was in. Maybe it should have been passed but it’s just not the done thing.
I remember 50k+ groaning at David Silva every other week for not shooting when he was in the position too then expect Mahrez to pass that.
Just poor execution in the end but the bloke has turned up time and time again so far this season so deserves some leeway IMO.
Don't really understand your point here?
Surely an easy pass through to Phil who would have had an open goal is the done thing/.
This is coming from the coaching. I'd put money on it.He was a bit greedy and did not execute well the last shot.
But TBH I blame it partly on Pep.
How on earth did he not take Jesus immediately off when he refused to pull back pass to Kev the second time? Very bad display of disciplinary and it affected the team in a bad way.
Cancelo Grealish and Mahrez all showed little greedy afterwards.
It is a sitter if he isn’t so greedy and slides Phil in.The shot takes a big deflection from matip, without that who knows if it was going in. Was good defending it was hardly a sitter
But he isn’t 1v1. He has 2 defenders coming in to block any shot.Attackers are selfish. They want the glory. Put any attacker in the world in that position - essentially 1v1 with the keeper - in the 93rd minute of a near title-deciding match and they'll be shooting.
Passing is probably the right thing to do, yeah, but it's definitely not the done thing.
It's weird because the majority of the stadium has a tendency to moan and groan (happened a few times yesterday) when we're indecisive in the box and not just pulling the trigger so the anger at Mahrez here feels a bit odd.
I agree with you and easy to conclude Pep does as well :)The pass is 100% on. That being said, you could put Mahrez in that same situation 100 times and I doubt he makes a single pass.
In all his time at City, he has only ever shown glimpses of being a team player and typically this has come when he has found himself a regular in the side. Whenever his place has been under threat, he reverts back to playing for himself.
This season has been an odd one where Mahrez is concerned. I get the feeling that the majority of fans are far happier with him than Pep is. IMO Mahrez is far more valuable in the CL than he is in the PL. There’s an argument that he should start every big CL game but for me, I would have him 3rd choice RW in the PL.
