I'll always back a player that has the balls to take penalties regularly even when they've missed a few, I even backed sterling for wanting them despite the fact he should have had the self awareness to know he was abysmal at them. dunno why he's taking that today though, there's a ranking, Haaland then mahrez, it should always be followed unless the player specifically gives it to somebody else. Scored it so it's all good but I dread to think of the shit he would have received had he missed, it wasn't even a great penalty either, keeper saves that all day if he goes the right way. Just stick to the hierachy next time.

Such a classy player. Kept cutting back on his left then roped Digne in and got him booked. The touch to get in on goal from Alvarez' pass was sensational, the finish awful but the ball took off so will let him off. Constantly on the move and refreshingly he is making runs in behind as well as staying wide, which helps stretch things. Other than Rodri our best player by a mile at the moment. Undroppable.

He was atrocious tonight but he has had a great run since the WC and everyone is entitled to a bad game. This has to be a bump in the road though, it can’t turn into another 3 or 4 month period of being poor.
