Some serious raggy & entitled posts on this thread.

Lad was bought to do a job, fill a hole, and potentially be a KDB replacement, if he can develop that way under Pep.

He’s played for top teams, is an international, and Pep wanted him.

Color me crazy, but he’s going to get the benefit of the doubt for the rest of the season…at the very least!

He had a sense of urgency, as if saying, "The opportunity to play is hard to come by, and I have to seize it," but the more he thought about it, the harder it was for him to perform. The team's tactics were already complicated enough, and his anxious mentality made it impossible for him to think about how to make the right choice. After making some wrong choices, his self-confidence would also be affected, making the whole thing even worse. Pep should let him sit on the bench and give him 20 minutes of performance time every week, so that he can avoid feeling anxious about playing time, which may help him find a normal game feel.

Amazing how many not only won't judge him after a full season but seem to actively want to write him off after 1150 minutes in a City shirt.

Surely the club have a bunch of sports psychologists …

Course we do. Playing for the best team in the world for the most demanding management in football isn't necessarily a phycological thing it can also just be a time thing. Surely by now we've learnt to give new player's time?

Poor game yesterday, a few touches of class but generally lacked confidence and didn't find space as an outlet in midfield. Needs time.

Not saying he had a great game, but I am reminded of how wrong people here can get things.... I remember when KDB first joined us, the howls of people saying he gave the ball away too easily and should play easier passes...

I'm not gonna sit here and bash Nunes but for me he'll never be at the required level but I'm sure he'll get time to prove himself. He's not gonna get the extra patience and Protection from fans like an academy player so people shouldn't be surprised he's getting negative comments so early on.

Nunes is an athlete, a runner who can help to transition defence into attack in a split second. Yesterday was not a good performance, but his strengths are not best suited against 10 behind the ball. That was a game for players skilled in tight spaces, partly why I would also have preferred Bobb to Alvarez. I hope we all wish for this player to succeed and give him the patience necessary.

Despite all the negativity on here, Pep gave him a right old hug with a smile on his face when he came off.
Didn't look displeased at all.
We all know players take a season to adjust to Pep and his style of play so I don't understand why we have to go through this with every new player in their first season.
Let's give the lad a chance and see how he comes on.

I wasn’t against the signing but this isn’t a kid we’ve signed. In wide open games I suspect he’d be ok, like Burnley, but most weeks we are against deep blocks. The biggest issue is he pulls out of every 50/50. Definitely could have got to that ball first yesterday with Pickford.

a mixture or many who wanted paqueta, some that insist on comparing him to kev/gundo which in only 6 months here and hardly srarting is ridiculous to do and his wolves performance where he was thrown under the bus somewhat has made people reluctant to cut him some slack.

Yesterday after seeing the starting 11 and the cloggers we were gonna play, a few said he would get muscled off the ball (as well as Alvarez tbf) and always have 2 on him, it is unfair to write him off imho.

No idea why he wasn't utilised next to rodri as previous and Pep changed from two full back playing high to his 3 at the back and stones tucking in, but it clearly affected his game and also wasted foden on the wing.
I suspect Pep, like gvadiol, doku and other new players is coaching and positioning them to be able to play multiple positions so we fans need to be patient and not write anyone off just yet

Pants in that 1st half unfortunately and hasn't done much all season so far. Yes he'll get the benefit of the doubt in regards to the "first season under Pep syndrome" but we need to see a lot more than a couple of good runs every few games.

Most teams we play stick 10 men behind the ball.???

Some of us can see when a player fits our style of play. Most of us could all see after a dozen appearances that Phillips wasn't even close to being a City a player. Some people bafflingly defended him till his last minute at the club. On paper Nunes should be head and shoulders above what we have seen in a City shirt. He's a regular international player for a top European country. Games against the bottom 6 sides in the division he should be standing out for all the RIGHT reasons. I hope he does come good but he needs to start showing us why he was worth the fee paid, especially against relegation fodder!

There was a moment he misplaced a simple pass and several players ran over to motivate him and pick him up. Shows he's still lacking confidence in this team and learning the role and also the morale of our squad. Give him time!
