I'm not really bothered what anyone thought of Gundogan. He'd shown his quality for years before he'd even joined us. Nunes didn't, outside of the occasional outlier game for Wolves, where he got space to run and counterattack into. Or when we battered Sporting in the Champions League and he got space to run and counterattack into.

I don't see how anyone could describe him as anything other than raw right now. Is that really being harsh? It's not like I've got anything against him and don't want him to succeed, it's just what I see every time he plays for us.

We know by now that new players should be given time, as even players like Bernardo struggled to get Pep's football in their first season. I think Nunes has the qualities to excel in this team and can be more than just a squad player. Guess the mistake we made with Phillips has forced us to look a bit more carefully at Nunes's qualities. He's relatively young and can get much, much better. I expect vital contributions from him toward the end of this season.

Fingers crossed, mate. I'd settle for him simply facilitating other players more. In the second half he started making those runs into the inside channel which Rico is so good at when he plays CM and we looked much more threatening for it.

It's not like he's got nothing to bring to the table. Like I said, he's got decent foundations and I hope he keeps on settling in and improving.

The guy's got skill, anybody can see that. Skill in spades. But it's weird, he seems to constantly think he's got more time than he actually has. He's one of very few players in the team that gets regularly caught in possession. If he can just speed up his game somewhat I think he can be a useful player for us.
By the way, don't expect to see him making any tackles, any more than Mahrez did. Just not that kind of player. That's the deal with certain players.

He needs to adapt to how to play against deep defenses, if it is an open game and if there is space he will play amazingly.

I'd just like him to play with a smile on his face occasionally.. seems to be quite miserable most of the time. There is a good player in there but I'm not sure where he will fit in when we have all our midfielders back and ready.

Like already mentioned, he’s got the ability and skill but he’s never a Pep midfielder, yet anyway. After their goal last night, we looked vulnerable and just needed to be solid. I couldn’t see Nunes for about a minutes worth of football and most of their attacks was coming through the middle. He doesn’t know where to be, but hopefully that will come.

Rodri first season was similar soft on the ball losing the ball slow to react and why that first season he was being called plodri.

Give Nunues time he will come good he has it in him he is tall fast just need to be stronger on the ball know when to pass..

Remember Rodri's first season? He was absolutely bobbins! I thought he was slow and cumbersome always playing it safe. I thought he wasn't good enough to make it nevermind becoming best DM in world football. Took him best part of 2 seasons to establish himself and look at him now, bossing it!

I'm ambivalent on Nunes, i think he needs a season to settle in and adapt to how we play. Certainly far too early to write him off as i did with Rodri. Hopefully he'll come good, and so will Nunes; )

I'm bored stiff by people rolling out the same old 'first season' chestnut about players.

Nunes did nowt at Wolves worth writing home about, and we signed him out of desperation having missed out on (at least) three targets.

Just because he's wearing a City shirt doesn't mean he's going to be great. He was poor last night. He was at best a passenger, and we improved 100% when Kovacic came on.

Nunes is this season's Kalvin Phillips. He'll be lucky to get on the bench when KDB returns.
