I'm not really bothered what anyone thought of Gundogan. He'd shown his quality for years before he'd even joined us. Nunes didn't, outside of the occasional outlier game for Wolves, where he got space to run and counterattack into. Or when we battered Sporting in the Champions League and he got space to run and counterattack into.
I don't see how anyone could describe him as anything other than raw right now. Is that really being harsh? It's not like I've got anything against him and don't want him to succeed, it's just what I see every time he plays for us.
We know by now that new players should be given time, as even players like Bernardo struggled to get Pep's football in their first season. I think Nunes has the qualities to excel in this team and can be more than just a squad player. Guess the mistake we made with Phillips has forced us to look a bit more carefully at Nunes's qualities. He's relatively young and can get much, much better. I expect vital contributions from him toward the end of this season.
