I'm bored stiff by people rolling out the same old 'first season' chestnut about players.

Nunes did nowt at Wolves worth writing home about, and we signed him out of desperation having missed out on (at least) three targets.

Just because he's wearing a City shirt doesn't mean he's going to be great. He was poor last night. He was at best a passenger, and we improved 100% when Kovacic came on.

Nunes is this season's Kalvin Phillips. He'll be lucky to get on the bench when KDB returns.

How many premier starts in meaning full games has Philips started?

What difference does that make?

Kalvin Phillips has been persona non grata since the World Cup as far as Pep is concerned, and he was never going to get a start when Gundogan or Rodri were fit.

Nunes falls into the Jack Rodwell category... If we hadn't signed him, we wouldn't be wondering why we'd 'missed out'.

Remember Rodri's first season? He was absolutely bobbins! I thought he was slow and cumbersome always playing it safe. I thought he wasn't good enough to make it nevermind becoming best DM in world football. Took him best part of 2 seasons to establish himself and look at him now, bossing it!

I'm ambivalent on Nunes, i think he needs a season to settle in and adapt to how we play. Certainly far too early to write him off as i did with Rodri. Hopefully he'll come good, and so will Nunes; )

I would like to have agreed, but then I saw it was you posting, so I changed my mind.

I am therefore going to go with....

He is a tad pants. Get rid. :)

The difference is pep has started Nunes in a game we had to win pep hasn't started Philips in any game that we have to win! This means pep trusts Nunes he knows he can improve him, he takes what pep tells him on Board!

I don't disagree to most of that but it's not easy for new players to hit the ground running, especially with complicated tactics and expectations that pep demands. I questioned signing Nunes, wasn't keen on signing him for downing tools at Wolves and he didn't look a stand out player in many games i watched Wolves. But he's here now and we need to get behind him and allow him a season to adjust. Unlike Phillips I don't think he's too far off becoming an established player, time will tell...

Think he's alright personally but he will be quietly shuffled off in the summer. Was clearly a panic buy after the Paqueta thing collapsed. Definitely shows signs of looking tidy and skilful in patches but just hasn't got that spark, or that extra bit of strength, to help him beat a man or keep the ball. A 6/10 player for us.

I was pleased when he started but wasn’t impressed with his performance. Maybe I’m just not sure what kind of player he is, having not seen much of Wolves last season.

The main red flag for me was a couple of 50-50s he didn’t commit to. Not as fussed about the chance he missed cos that can happen to anyone.

And yet this talentless bum has managed to fake his way all the way onto the Portuguese MNT. He must have missed his calling as an illusionist. He needs to retire immediately. How can we ignore all the astute, valid footballing points made by the preeminent experts on BM? He's slow, ugly, wears gloves with short sleeves, miserable, asks for yellows, soft, raw, a panic buy, 9th choice, "not a City player" as defined in the BM handbook on City players. Did I miss anything? What in the world can Pep and Txiki be thinking? Oh I forgot, my bad, they signed Phillips forfeiting their ability to rate players.

Not sure there’s a more miserable poster on here these days and that’s some going looking at the competition.
