27 | Matheus Nunes - 2024/25

Nunes is currently the 4th best player at City. Maybe fifth and at the worst, 6th if you count both goalies.

There aren't 4 outfield players who are currently better.

Dias, Doku, Gvardiol (barely), and then it's Nunes. That's the list. So if you want to complain, there is a growing blast of far worse players you can focus on
None of the others gifted the rags a lifeline, with 3 minutes to go.
For most of us, it's the most important game of the season.
When all is said and done, no one will remember him being our 4th best player of the season. He will be remembered for his brain fart.
I actually like Nunes and think there is a decent player there. But, he's done absolutely nothing in a blue shirt to justify glossing over yesterday's shitshow. At the moment, it's his defining moment as a City player.

Meh! Nothing Gvardiol, Dias and Walker haven't done this month.

You can try to make more of it if you want. Im not going to.as i've seen worse.

The point isn't that he is currently one of our better players and you should remember it. The point of making that clear is to know where our problems truly lie.

No one is currently great. But some are worse than others. We have the 3rd worst form in the league the last 2 months only Southampton and Leicester have been worse

That to me is bigger than a missed pass.

Yes, but form does not magically appear. It has to be worked for and that is what the team was doing. It wasn't pretty, it was nervy, pretty crap but we were still winning and that might have given a platform and more confidence......and then Nunes fucked up twice.
OK, he's done well in parts (but also disappears as well) and played out of position but you simply don't fuck up Derby wins with 4 mins to go. You just don't make those mistakes

He actually fucked up thrice.
Just had the misfortune to have turned the tv on as they were showing their winning goal from yesterday. He starts of well in front of Gvardiol as they’re running towards our goal but ends up 5 yards behind him, suggesting he might well have cleared the ball had he carried on running.
That being said, why Gvardiol thought trying to back heel the ball was a good idea, is anyone’s guess.

If you say so. Fine. I don't see it that way. Don't mind a hustling player who made a mistake. I'd rather that over bring scared to show for the ball and shrinking from possession.

I see far more of that on the team an very seldom from him. Even the pass to him was a part of that malaise. I'm not blaming Kyle, but he passed it to him and promptly hid from a return pass. This has become the norm.

I simply see too much wrong to spend my time worrying about the few who do anything right

The last thing I would call Nunes is “hustling”. I think the points about hiding, being scared to play are valid but we could still have won that game easily

He's the modern day Jamie Pollock.
