Was exactly what we have been missing last night. Then Gundo went off and it all went to shit. Maybe using him as Gundos legs is the best option in the short term.
He's got 3 goals and 5 assists this seasons in 14 total appearances that equates to around nine full games under his belt, it's not shy off a goal or assist every game at the minute.Had a good start to the second half, but he's just not a goal threat and neither is Lewis or Grealish, or even Bernardo.
That puts so much pressure on Foden because with Rodri injured and De Bruyne less influential our only hope is Haaland scoring 40+
You're splitting hairs mate as it was only a generic criticism of our midfield output and not aimed at anyone in particular. He's got 3 goals and 5 assists this seasons in 14 total appearances that equates to around nine full games under his belt, it's not shy off a goal or assist every game at the minute.
Thats a good return in any time but considering he's been in and out of the side and playing in a very disorganised team right now that's a more than good enough goal contribution. I'd be delighted if any of our wingers had those numbers. Comparing that output to grealish who hasn't scored all year is night and day
second half he was very good as an 8, until we made changes adn it went to shit. He was giving us exactly whats been missing, that runner from deeper. De Bruyne used to do that for us.The experiment of him at 6 failed spectacularly, but he was dynamic as one of the 8s. Made some good and bad actions, but that’s expected as he learns the role better.
Just needs to up his decision making and vision! There was a glimpse of the potential in the 3rd goal though.second half he was very good as an 8, until we made changes adn it went to shit. He was giving us exactly whats been missing, that runner from deeper. De Bruyne used to do that for us.
Think Savinho can also make things happen too.He takes risks and makes runs. He is a breath of fresh air in an otherwise turgid team full of risk avoiders.
It's practically him and Kevin. No one else thinks quickly in the ball or plays with any urgency.
True. The wingers other than Grealish tend to. But we are so slow getting the ball to the front line that the wingers are almost never one v one in no man's land with defenders.Think Savinho can also make things happen too.
I repeatedly questioned those that spent most of the summer claiming we'd play false 9 without haaland and be fine and asked them where exactly the goals would come from as we have no goalscorers in the squad so I'm fully behind you in saying we need other sources of goals but Nunes has actually been the one player other than haaland who has actually produced for us and shouldn't be included with the likes of grealish, lewis and bernardo or indeed anybody else with poor returns. You're splitting hairs mate as it was only a generic criticism of our midfield output and not aimed at anyone in particular.
Grealish has never been a prolific goalscorer and his return of 11 goals for City from 82 PL appearances is ordinary at best
Lewis is 2 from 42 whilst Foden and Bernardo are both suffering their biggest goal droughts.
Nunes has recently been one of our better performers, but his PL goals record is actually worse than the others, and it wasn't any better at Wolves.
In fact the only midfielder to actually exceed expectations is Kovacic.
That’s also because we’re sorely missing Rodri’s ability to play through the lines.True. The wingers other than Grealish tend to. But we are so slow getting the ball to the front line that the wingers are almost never one v one in no man's land with defenders.
Our whole team concept is frustrating. We move it up so slowly, then leave Central defenders in possession and with the job of picking out passes against a settled defense that has all 10 men back. Since we took forever getting the attack going.
The defense can always send a double team out to the wings against Doku or Savior, forcing them to pass it back to the middle where it ends up with a defender having the job of trying to unlock a crowded area.
The whole thing is painful to watch and so repetitive.
Just having the ability to run beyond the defence was a huge upgrade on what we've had so far. He did a couple of times and it got a good save and a goal. Promising like you sayJust needs to up his decision making and vision! There was a glimpse of the potential in the 3rd goal though.
Should have played Wright in the carabao cup. He has that pass in his locker, he constantly looks to split lines as opposed to the 3 yard safety pass we're seeing continually from Rico. That’s also because we’re sorely missing Rodri’s ability to play through the lines.
You could see KDB pointing at where the runs should be going last night.
There needs to be a huge collective head wobble and etch-a-sketch reset. Minds are scrambled at the minute.
I don't want to be a youth hater, but I've never understood why Mcatee gets so much ink and Wright none.Should have played Wright in the carabao cup. He has that pass in his locker, he constantly looks to split lines as opposed to the 3 yard safety pass we're seeing continually from Rico.
But now he wont get a chance as Pep wont gamble with league games.
I like everything I've seen (limited admittedly) of Wright. He might not be too mobile but the rest of his skillset is really good for his age.I don't want to be a youth hater, but I've never understood why Mcatee gets so much ink and Wright none.
Wright is far closer to the type of quick thinking passer we like . While I see nothing about Mcatee that's special. He is not calm, a great dribbler, passer or shooter. Nor is he uniquely fast or strong. I don't see anything special about his game. He might make it as a good role player, but nothing screams difference maker about him.
Yet I read so much moaning about his lack of playing time Don't get it personally.
