he made lots of good saves today. but one thing that is clear is that when you test the last line of defense consistently then he inevitably has a rush of blood. I think it has got to do more with his personality, he seems to be a bit of a nutter in real life. he seems to be like the the one who will rugby tackle someone with a knife haha

Every single week this thread continues to weed out the fucking morons.

He fucked up for the penalty, criticise that, that's more than fair but don't start this bullshit about him not making saves when he made 4 in that game and don't come out with bullshit about other keepers being better when those keepers have had more high profile errors that have cost their side in the last year alone than Ederson has in his entire city career.

What a load of nonsense.

"Rarely makes saves and chocolate wrists."

Ive read somethings on this forum in the years ive been here but that is right up there.
Today there were 2 shots that a top GK would easily catch, and he barely blocked them. Another shot to the body and it almost went under his arm, a top GK deflects it to the corner with no problem.

Ederson is a great sweeper, a great passer and great with high balls. He is an average shot-stopper and below average on 1v1. I don’t get why people fight about this, when it’s really clear. Luckily for us, Ederson is a top 3 GK even with his limitations. But for most teams, Ederson would not be a top 10 GK, and it’s okay, the only thing that matters is that he is important for us.

The 4 saves were really routine, and he made bad choices in 3 of them. They were not goals, but they were still mistakes that could costly. So yeah he had a bad game today. No big deal.

"barely blocked them" So did he save them or not?

What difference does it make if he pulled his shinpad out and batted it away for 4 runs if the ball didn't go in the net?

Bizarre standards people are holding him up against here.

Not particularly often. Hugely overrated due to his phenomenal left peg and nonchalance. Yes he suits our style but as a shot stopper he’s very average. The scouse keeper is miles better for a start.
Hugely overrated? He’s without a doubt the best keeper in the world if you want to play the way we play

Allison is miles better? He wouldnt be as good as Ederson in our team & Ederson wouldn’t be as good as Allison in Liverpool’s

He made two good saves. One was unauthodox but he saved it, it's a good save. Dropping a shot he should be catching before recovering it with zero consequence isn't a mistake, it's nothing. He made a solitary error that's not cost us anything other than his clean sheet, as you say, no big deal.

He did, but in other matches the rebound could go to the opposition and score, in another match it could be an own goal, in another match it can create doubts in the defense…his reactions have been slow this season.

Watch a video of Ederson and Neuer and their technique in 1v1, and you can see a big difference. Of course, sometimes Ederson will save a 1v1, but his technique is not the best.

Again for me he is a top 3 GK for us, so I rate him highly, but I am not gonna say he saves us, because as a shot-stopper, we could have better. He is an integral part of the way we play, but he doesn’t save us that much.

Most GK have gotten better with their passing(Ederson natural talent is much higher still) but Ederson has barely improved in his shot-stopping abilities. And that’s a valid critic.

You are right in a way but you are being hyperbolic.

Yes Ederson's shot stopping isn't the world's best - but average? Give over.

Below average on 1-on-1's?? That's crazy. He's one of the best at coming out quickly on 1-on-1s and smothering the chance.
