I didn't notice that he had a poor game, thought he was decent. I don't know what you thought he did wrong.
I don’t think he had an actively poor game. He just doesn’t make any out of the ordinary saves. Anything that is anything other than straight forward, and there is a high chance it beats him.
He’s just not a very good shot stopper. And today showed it once again.

Did very well to tip that Coutinho shot over the bar (why oh why does that guy always seem to play well against us?), but he really should be doing better on the goal conceded. Although Akanji didn't distinguish himself either.
Hart in his pomp was pulling off saves like that through entire matches.

I'm not a fan of stats, but I suspect that he will have maintained his position in the PL 'shots to saves ratio' table.

I'd say he had another largely forgettable game today.
He did stop a few Villa attacks, he grabbed a few and ended up on the ground, and also came out and did a Dave Ewing on some clearances that stayed inside the ground whereas Dave would have had 'em down Claremont Road. I think he's never been a shot stopper in the mould of Joe Hart, but then does he need to be considering the number of shots he faces.

First of all, he has to always play because he is the best keeper in world football with his feet.
He suits our style. No point in saying get rid while Pep is in charge.

However, his shot stopping is average at best and some of his decisions he makes are questionable when charging out of goal. Oh, and he’s not great on crosses either.

Someone before crediting him with saving that Coutinho 30 yarder. Ha. Not one keeper in England doesn’t save that. It looks good but it wasn’t anything special or above his remit.

The Villa goal today was a prime example of how limited he is. So poor. Didn’t even get close.

Did you see how much time we gave Coutinho for that shot. We are terrible at closing down at times.

I think that style has largely disappeared this season though so his benefits are being completely negated by the way we are playing. When was the last time we passed ourselves out of a press and scored? I can only remember recently passing out of a press and conceding because we messed it up. I don’t think he is adding much value this season because of this. In other years his shortcomings have been outweighed by his strengths but not so much this season.

Should have done better with the goal but good save with Coutinho shot. His saves to goal ratio must be terrible

Hart used to get this shit all the time n’all. It was always ‘Hart can’t dive down to his left, we need an upgrade’.

With goalkeepers, just like outfield players, they all make a lot of mistakes and all have flaws in their game. Go on YouTube and search for Allison’s mistakes, he makes more than Ederson despite being a better shot stopper in general.

I'd want my keeper to save the Watkins goal in all honesty however I understand entirely why he hasnt and why it looks shit on his part.

He's got a striker in the middle of the goal largely free, he's gambled on Akanji on the recovery blocking off the shot to his right, It's a gamble but it's the only real chance he has of saving it unless Watkins hits it straight at him. Akanji hasn't blocked off the angle well enough and the shot was tame in the end so it looks shit to concede but it is what it is. Can argue he shouldn't gamble if you want but ederson takes risks, he has to to play in net for Pep and nobody complains when they come off.

Everybody moaning conveniently ignoring the multiple bits of top class keeping after that goal to stop us throwing away points. The save from Coutinho was top class and had to be made as that was dipping in. the save when they was down our right hand side to block off a certain tap in was excellent and he came out once or twice to smother balls through too.

A good day at the office from him today. It's genuinely staggering people are slating him after that. At this point it's either a vendetta or a complete lack of understanding of the game they've no doubt been following for decades. It's weird either way.

No keeper has made more mistakes leading to a goal since 2020 than Alisson, and he's leading that comfortably, the people on here that constantly use him as a comparison to slate ederson would be demanding an upgrade after a few months if he was here instead.

Hart in his prime was miles ahead of Ederson in terms of saves and commanding the box. Ederson is not in the top five goalkeepers in Premier League.
He is rapidly becoming the most decorated Premier goalkeeper ever.

He made two outstanding saves at a vital time yesterday, show this guy the love and respect he deserves.

Goes on to play well and no one will say diddly.

He did well after the goal, seemed very decisive.

The issue are kind of 'long one on ones', where he just sort of ends up in no man's land and makes it easier for the forward. Once Watkins was through I think most expected him to score, which shows that while Ederson has clear strengths, there are areas for him to work on still.

Madness. He is comfortably one of the best in the world on crosses.
