31 | Ederson - 2023/24

Its really fucking hard to save penalties, in the history of the prem 80% have been scored.
See my league mean penalty save rate breakdown for exactly how hard it has been over the last five years.

The best was 19% saved (19/20). It’s currently just over 6% for this season.

Only six keepers have even registered a penalty save in the league this season and, of those, only one has more than one save: Areola, who has faced 6 and saved 2.

He is also the only keeper to face 6 or more penalties to register any saves. Leno (6), Vicario (6), and Pickford (7) have allowed every penalty they’ve faced this season.

It was definitely a penalty, but Nunez also did a massive dive to ensure it was given. By leaping so high in the air, prior to the contact with Ederson, and catching him on the thigh and not the ankle, he has effectively put our goalie out of action for a month. Before any of the usual suspects tell me it's bollocks, watch the replays. The Athletic described him thus: Nunez... launches... high into the air like a Uruguayan humpback whale leaping out of the ocean...

Always wonder how laws of gravity do not seem to apply for these guys. Usually if someone gets tripped they go down with pull of gravity but these guys seem to fly on being tripped.

Crazy stats. Are penalty takers just better than they were previously or is it VAR making keepers stay on the line that’s made scoring a penalty easier.

Get well soon Eddie, some of here are sick bastard wishing him getting injured so Ortega can be played ahead him.

Doesn't matter which one is better, it's still fucking stupid if people wishing one of our player getting injured because that reason.

The next few games will show just how good and how much we will miss him.

Ortega is a very , very good no2, but he is not anywhere near Ederson.

There’s whispers he’s about to sign a new contract.

apparently only 1 pen didnt result in goal of total of 22 Ederson faced (PL only)

pen xG is around 0.8 or bit less, so on average 8 out of 10 is scored.

its hard to save a pen but its also hard imo concede 21 of 22.
He's saved three, hasn't he? That I can bring to mind anyway.

Palace away in 2017, Arsenal away in 2018, then Everton at home in 2021.
