Well, Pep is right here, there is too much at stake to risk and play Phillips, who barely understands our tactics and as a player isn't ready for it.

Rodri is the best DM in the world, when you rotate with him, you should be far above average, like last year's Fernandinho for example.

Is his current level above or even to average ? Nope..

He knew where he arrived, so needed to be more disciplined and hard-worker type of a player I guess, but Pep somehow had to complain about his weight, which we all know isn't something Pep does, if he isn't fed up and really angry about.

I think he still has a chance, but he has to fight and impress Pep with his attitude, maybe train for whole summer (that's something Pep would appreciate), then kill it during the pre-season games and who knows - Pep may decide to leave him for another year.

Pep and the coaching team see him play almost every day so they’ll have a better idea of why he isn’t getting opportunities. I’m sure they if he shows more then he won’t be ‘starved’ of them.
He was injured for a portion, then came back from the WC out of shape. Simply, he fell out and never got a chance. Second, we have a Worldwide at DM. So it's not so surprising.

I can see him playing lots next season. Too many are piling on based on lack of playing rather than poor play. Sounds silly to me.

I honestly can't see him 'doing a Jack' and suddenly becoming a regular choice at City. He's quite simply not made the grade.

There's absolutely no reason to accept mediocrity at this level of football.

People giving him time because of injuries etc are being kind. He's been fit a couple of months now, and even when he was injured he should at least be able to join training to help himself understand what was required.

Lewis and Gundo are now playing ahead of him. And those two are backups to Rodri and Stones when playing deeper it seems. And possibly Bernardo.

I'd like him to succeed as he seems a decent sort, but all the signs suggest otherwise. I almost feel embarrassed for him now, I hope he finds somewhere more his level in the summer.

Edit. For his future, I'd rather see him being tried and not playing well, as it would suggest he's coped in training. That he doesn't even get more than 15 mins here and here suggest he really isn't impressing. We've got such a high standard, it's hard for some players to cope.

We needed the lad today and he has let us down, stop with the excuses.

The injury he had after joining was a shoulder problem. To me, after the worst of it, he should be able to walk through some training sessions, play non-contact stuff to get used to positions and passing options. He should be learning without matches still. That he hasn't managed it...

I don't even know if he's had any actual injuries lately - transfermarket has the shoulder issue pre-xmas as his most recent problem making him miss 11 games. Since then? No idea. One way or another, just not good enough I guess.

I still hope he makes it with us, though I often wonder if I hope that not because I have some great belief in his talents, but more because if he fails and has to leave, it will be the first time in recent years that a major outfield signing hasn’t worked.

I’d prefer to remember Fernandinho as simply a superb player and to label him as average after his time with us is just wrong in my opinion
