Think pre-season is make or break for Kalvin. If he gets a good run and proves himself in the 3/4 games we'll play, wherever we're going - America, China? - he'll make it to next season and be given another chance. But if Pep doesn't like what he sees, expect us to send him to West Ham in a hurry for £30m and rush Lavia back up north.
Although, it's worth mentioning that Nathan Ake only managed 993 minutes across 13 apps in his first season. So far this season Kalvin Phillips has managed 405 minutes across 17 apps - which is obviously only half as much but if Kalvin can eventually become half the player Nathan has for City then that'll be just fine for his role in the squad.
