Not sure what Phillips is doing wrong , he doesnt look out of place when he plays can only think it it what he does in training , but like a lot of our signings the first 12 months are a learning curve.
If he fulfills his potential next season he still could be a brilliant signing ,really hope so.
His problem is that we only play 1 in his position and he's not as good as Rodri, but nobody is.

I rather have Caicedo instead of Rice. Caicedo is a superior player to Rice anytime of the day.
Caicedo - Pep could make him world class as well as McAlister - sign them 2 - keep Gundogan, sell Phillips and Cancelo and I’m happy

In the same way I'd have done fine if I'd have come on with 5 minutes to go at 3 nil up
The fact he only got that amount of time says it all when 3-0 up with Madrid to play on Wed. The best option for him is to leave. I’m sure he can shine elsewhere but it’s not going to be with us. Yes players take a while to get used to how we play but they still played a lot of games whilst getting up to speed. He has hardly played at all.

Totally agree and said the same this morning.

A lot of our current best players had a struggle in their first season, but they played games and you could see glimpses.

Rodri and Grealish are the obvious ones that spring to mind.

Phillips has shown nothing, and hasn't had the chance to show anything. Can only imagine he's not understanding what's being asked, as he clearly has some ability.

The flip side is Akanji, who you can tell has the intelligence to understand what he's being asked to do, and he isn't the most technically gifted player around, but he clearly gets is.....Phillips doesn't.

Win it vs Chelsea and get him 2 starts to end the season.

Interested to see how they feel about the situation internally, I personally think there is still a very good player to get out of him, it's just if we have the patience.

He's not broken sweat or looked like he cares, and that is criminal. Get rid.

How do you define "looks like he cares" - having a laugh on the side line when he knows he's only getting 1 or 2 minutes?
In the limited minutes he's played not once has he made a difference, some games he's weakened us by casually strolling about. He hasn't got the hunger or desire to cut it with us. I can forgive a player who's trying but Phillips only has himself to blame if he's sold this summer.

Yeah i agree. If Phillips is not trusted to play in this type of game, which should be ideal for his game, then i don't see how we can keep him.

I'd move him on now and try to convince Lavia to come back.
