It feels like one winger in our setup gets very little time on the ball, and the other gets alot more.

Mahrez felt way more involved in this game, and you can see Foden was frustrated because I legitmately forgot he was playing for large periods of time, we just kept ignoring his side.

Might be a tactical thing because the only way for Foden to see the ball more is for him to come centrally and leave his position, and when he did that he assisted for Gundogan too.

Maybe he isn't comfortable enough leaving the wing, or Pep doesn't want him too.
Yeah statistically nothing really unusual happened with Foden (eg he made more passes than Mahrez tonight). But it often feels like he's really in and out of the game. I'm sure in the fullness of time it'll become clearer why that is.

Yeah I feel it is tactical. Wingers usually are to hold their position until the ball comes to them to spread the pitch and pull an opposition defender wide with that player. Perhaps seeing how good a finisher Phil is the tactic is to give Mahrez more of the ball and Foden arrive late in the box.

Interesting when Gladbach press high on that occasion Phil popped up in the middle where a #10 would be and with his quality made an terrific run and assist for Gundo. It was actually KDB who was wide left. Pep keeps everyone guessing with players switching positions and teams can't cope with tactically.

Playing out wide you will always be in and out of the game but when he was in the game he was outstanding last night.
