City not signing a striker is going to put a lot of responsibility on his young shoulders, at the moment it looks he's the most reliable goal scorer among the forwards.
Have a look at Fodens Career mate..
His debut at 16 ,in front of 80k people ,other side of the world, his direct opponent that day was Paul Pogba.,older bigger.more experienced.
Phil Foden was man of the match on his debut.
Charity shield winning penalty against Liverpool.at Wembley. Remember? Foden cool as fuck.
Desperately need a goal against psg last season, one of the best teams in the world....step forward young Phil.
Anfield away last season.Foden
Yesterday.Foden.
You don't need to worry about 'responsibility' with Foden
Just let him play Football.
He can play anywhere.

Doesn't need repeating at this point, but he's unfathomably special. If he continues on this trajectory I'm certain he'll end his career as one of the true greats.

Loved seeing him question others on the pitch/bench, he is no longer one of the kids or “peps boy” but now a key figure in the team. One of the first names on the team sheet for me.

Oh, total agreement with your point. I just would have preferred to have someone else who takes the "proven scorer" responsibility and let Foden do his stuff. On the other hand, he could end up scoring a lot of big goals and get himself in conversation for one of the best in the world which he's fully capable of.

I wonder if anyone in the media will admit that they got it well and truly wrong regarding Foden, his development and what Pep was doing with him folding him into the team. It was shameful the stick Pep and City got, and even today I saw someone on the comments in The Guardian talking about him being a "benchwarmer".

He has served one of the most intensive apprenticeships in modern football, having played virtually every position across the front five, learned the nuances of positional play, and he is getting better and better each week he plays now. Playing the trigger in the press last week, followed on the left this week, shows that development, it really is something to see. This is why Grealish came to us, and what he has having to learn now. Foden is five years younger.

He's confident enough to give Kev a bollocking when he isn't making the run he should be. Compare and contrast to Sancho, who is another great talent, but already looks limited. Whenever Pep leaves, we'll have him to thank for the next decade for what he's done for Phil.

It was the moment where we’d just conceded and he was urging his teammates to calm down. He still looks the boy, but he certainly plays far beyond his years.

Not sure if any other blues feel this way, but when we went 1-0 down yesterday I'd usually think "that's us done then" when the game is at Anfield...but with Phil on the pitch I didn't feel that way. I could see he wasn't going to let us lose that game and he yet again called for the ball (which was perfect from Gabby) and finished it brilliantly.

Would love to see Pep rave about him as he did for the likes of Messi and Muller in the past. Pep's post match comment about Foden was a little bit meh for me.
People are too obsessed with whether Pep says nice things about other players or clubs. Look at Foden's development on the pitch and judge for yourself whether Pep is man managing him in a way that is yielding clear results both for him as an individual player and us as a club. If Pep thinks his job is to keep him grounded because he can still, unbelievably, get better still then fucking fantastic.

ooooo he's doing big lad stuff like shouting at team mates and the ref and stuff, oooooh he's getting rather good!!!
