A bit bobbins today, worked hard but nothing really came off for him.

Bit too safe. Looked like he was going to have a field day first 10 minutes before going into his shell a bit, didn't help that we were far too slow in moving the ball around which meant he always had a right back and backup correctly positioned to combat him but I thought he was still comfortably our biggest threat.

First time Phil has disappointed me in a blue shirt , maybe because expectations have gone throught the roof , his shot created Bernardo's goal but he was outnumbered on the left flank by Burnley players and was invisible in the second half when he moved into the false nine vacated by Sterling.
We need to find his best position and leave him there , moving him every week alongside with Southgate changing his role every time he pulls on an England shirt is'nt helping.
He will become the best and most important player at the club over the next couple of seasons so lets build the team around him

I thought he was the best of our front 3 by some distance, even though he may have been below his normal standards.
Raz and Mahrez did the sum of 0 in that match. They were both absolutely gash.

Personally think Phil’s best position for City currently is wide left of the front 3. Where he started against Burnley.

The problem we have (potentially of our own making with recruitment) is trying to shoehorn players into the team he gets moved around because those other players are not as good as Phil there or the alternatives positions.

Phil played false 9 against Chelsea with Jack wide left. Against Liverpool Foden played wide left and Jack false 9. Foden played better than Jack in the wide left and false 9 positions. The “drop” in quality is bigger for Jack when he is moved from wide left to false 9 than it is for Foden. Likewise yesterday, he was better in the role of false 9 in the 2nd half than what Raz was 1st half. It goes without saying that Phil is also miles better than Raz in the wide left position in the front 3 too.

The unfortunate thing for Foden is he can play multiple roles pretty damn well and is better than most of the current team in those positions. His versatility means we don’t necessarily get to see his absolute best every match because he is being moved around and not always playing in his favoured/best position. The same is happening with England too.

He is such a good footballer and the Manager wants him on the pitch. Foden’s “lesser” performances are better than other players “lesser” performances in those alternative positions and that’s why he is being moved around as much as he is.

He’s been managed to perfection

The twats in the media saying loan him out, you are as clueless as you come across.

Not for the first time, Pep knowledge 101.

was sensational as a false 9 today. he can definitely transition into a midfielder when KDB is finished.

Unreal. Dropping into the crowded midfield and wanting it all the time, then when getting it doing something good and if not something good then something quite exceptional. The range of passing, the touch, the skill, even the runs in behind probing their defence. Just hope he can keep this up. Pep must love him
