Do you think Foden is the first player in history to have an average manager?

When he takes the next step up and starts running games it won’t matter who the manager is, he’ll see plenty of the ball.
Tin hat on but I've honestly never seen anything to justify the hype.

Maybe there is an element of over hype like all English players but he is still a hell of a natural talent, he looks comfortable in our team which is some achievement.

BUT, in the last 12 months his progress has slowed and he does go missing for periods in a game, that's something he needs to address without question.

Its up to him you say then go on to say the reasons that are out of his control why it wasn't. Bizarre and plain stupid to compare him with Messi as he isn't shunted on to the left touchline by the manager and doesnt take to the pitch with the same players. He lost the ball once ? Really? well that never happens to everyone at some point does it?

Thanks for the laugh though I am fond of an illogical contradictory post from time to time.

No I said it wasn't Southgate's fault that Phil was poor. Shunted on the left? Like when he plays for City? Rather than played as a no.10 where he never plays for City. We've got better players than England, but nothing I've seen from Phil suggests he'd be any good in that role for England. As I said, he popped into that space and gave it away. Compare him to Griezmann if you want? He popped up on the left and created the winner. You can make excuses but Phil wasn't good enough in that game. He has all the talent in the world but he needs to kick on now if he's going to be the player we all hoped he would be.

I think his man management is a myth & expect the stories to come out once the dust settles.

An Arsenal player in great form walked out. I think here was clicks in the squad. I just think they’ve got a world class
PR team, world class squad & a league 1 coaching team.
Nailed it.

He had Shaw constantly stood right next to him bringing in defenders. Plus Shaw would not release the ball to him at all, instead choosing to bring it forward so Phil had nowhere to go. He's used to city players trusting their technique to play the ball in tight spaces but Shaw wouldnt and just crowded him out.
Same with Saka and Henderson, once Saka came more central second half against France he was dangerous cos he had space cos Henderson wasnt stood next to him.

Does he not have to adapt though? The way we play will be different than any other manager.

I thought he was grew into the game on Saturday when he was off the wing and went looking for the ball.
