1st half wasn't great but he was still the only player on the pitch who was ever going to make anything happen in that starting 11. Played a great ball to put haaland in if he didnt have a lukaku-esque first touch and waste it.

Came alive second half once he had Doku and alvarez to work with. Much needed after a disaster performance against the dippers. Still feel like he's playing well within himself though. If he had the confidence of Doku he'd be tearing up every game.
We have a handful of players who can magic summat out of nowt. Foden is one of those. His goal last night just shows the skill and class of the guy. If only he had had Erling and Rico's chances it'd have been 2'-2 at HT and 5-2 at FT!

Yeah, because he has a tendency to be brilliant in 1 game and then average for the next 3.

He just needs to maintain his high level

I wouldn’t apply that to this season. Overall I think even when he has been ‘average’ he still contributes.

Most of our players aren’t excellent every game, so it’s hard for even the best to be great all the time. The expectation levels are almost unfair in my opinion.

He's the most naturally gifted English player since Gascoigne. Absolutely nobody else comes close to him in the current set up.

Many forget he's still only 23. He might not showcase the fullness of his ability for another 5-6 years; but we can afford him that patience because he's exceptional in most games he plays in.

Yep. I think some people (myself included) can get a bit impatient with his consistency at times but I think it's because he's held to a higher standard than most because he's so gifted.

In my opinion he's a world class talent but not quite got world class consistency yet, and I think that's what we're all waiting for and want now, but it'll come if he keeps working.

I'm guilty of the same impatience, at times mate. But as sure the sun rises in the East, Foden will find that consistency.

Look at it another way, at what age did we see the best from the likes of Iniesta, Zidane, Kaka? Midfielders often peak in their late 20's, early 30's.

He wasn't great last night but he did what all world-class players do, and that's make a difference, even when not at their best. He's the closest thing England have got and will likely have for a very long time to Andres Iniesta, who was a genius. And let's not forget that Iniesta himself wasn't anywhere near the player he became at the same age as Phil.

Comical how few comments there are in our homegrown players thread when he more or less puts the team on his back compared to when he just has an average performance.

I think that’s due to people like me, I think Foden is an immeasurable talent and never ever lets us down.
Much like Haaland, Stones, Ederson & Bernardo. There’s really not much left to comment on.

With Foden now getting more and more minutes centrally England really do have fantastic front 6. Probable the best in World football.

Rice
Bellingham. Foden
Saka. Grealish/Sterling
Kane

Should really be winning things..
