A reason Messi isn't on the list of scanners?

Could be that he often spent chunks of the game wandering or standing still, which often worked in his favour.

Those players in the list spend quite a lot of the game moving into spaces to receive the ball, hence having to scan a new picture each time

Messi often let the game happen around him and found space that way, and probably just scans when he's about to spring into action

That would be by guess. Someome like Phil is always on the move, so it's continuous scanning.

He's going to have to show a lot more going forward to keep starting, though.

Should have been dropped for Palmer , easily the most passive midfielder in the team

5/10 for the whole tournament. Seems to just hide for some reason. When he receives the ball he can’t wait to get rid of it again. When the ball goes wide he just runs to the back post everytime. Not once did I see him drive at a player aswell. Bizarre after the season he’s had, still love him though, can’t wait for him to get back in blue.

Not sure why saying it like it is is considered an abomination here.

Phil is a great player but failed to show his potential.

Bellingham, Saka, Palmer, even Watkins all stepped up when they had the chance to. Phil wasn't brave enough and his performance would pkay right into the hands of critics.

Fortune favours the brave.

Didn’t show up at all apart from one half against Holland.

He had a poor tournament. Can blame Southgate and Bellingham and the set up all day, and there's some merit to that, but the best players (which Phil is) tend to find a way to rise above the situation and perform
