5:2 diet

Someone mentioned beansprouts early on in this thread. They have made it easy for me to lose weight. You can eat a big bag of these with soy sauce. Fills you up with very few cals.

Started this diet some 8 weeks ago,but put it on hold during the festive period, but delighted that I`ve still managed to lose 20 lbs.Started again this week and ideally want to lose another 40 lbs and get down to 12.7 stone, ready to walk my eldest daughter down the aisle (well sandy beach in Cuba) for her forthcoming wedding in August.

I have just downloaded the app for this diet I will post some of their low cal recipes . What I can't find on the app is how many calories do I have on the 5 days and then the 2 fasting days .

All the info says normal eating so its probably best to stick to the recommended daily calorie intake which is

2500 for a man
2000 for a woman

Its the sugar in the coffee i'd miss, and the milk! Just cant do black coffee at all!

So 2 consecutive fast days is a bad thing for scientific reasons?

It's bad because your going without adequate nutrition for 48hrs......

Try green tea,and not the cheap shite.

I've just finished the book and my understanding is that fasting on 2 consecutive days isn't a problem. In the book Michael a Mosely does 4 or 5 days under the instruction of that professor who specialises in researching longevity.
From what I can make out, the reason they advise splitting the fast days is due to difficulty and compliance rather than health risk.

Try it....however,be advised,if you have a lifestyle that is more active than that of a garden slug, then you will most likely fall over at some stage.

Not hoping to contradict you pal, but again, according to the book, fasting has only been found to have a positive effect on energy levels and sporting performance- obviously with the proviso that it is set in the context of 5:2 intermittent ratio. The books talks about how Muslim footballers performance was not found to be impaired, from extensive testing and assessment, during Ramadan.

I had around 400 cal yesterday and played squash last night, and intend to have similar today prior to doing 5 mile on treadmill tonight.

I'll check back in and let you know how it feels- and hopefully not from a hospital bed.

Muslim footballers can eat as many calories as they like once the sun has gone down though
