On current form, he is playing better than Dias…a player who was in the FIFA XI last season.

His long range forward passing was far from 100%, most especially through the middle, which is sub-optimal in our set up. However, his defensive game was superb and his support of Egan-Riley helped the younger player look very tidy in his big game debut.

Not sure if it’s just me but it seems like he’s got even better on the ball. In amongst that bore-fest last night, Stones dropped a line-breaking masterclass.

It was his ability on the ball at Everton that made him a £50m player - he’s had to tone it down to fit into Pep’s algorithmic, creative-expression vacuum, but this season it appears he’s gone rogue and is starting to show what he’s really about, possibly in response to being wrongly relegated to third choice. He’d be the first name on my team sheet every week, and captain too.

I don't think he's gone rogue as such - Pep seems to be delighted with him when he does play. I just think that despite not playing so much, his confidence is sky-high so he's playing with more freedom and less fear than he used to.

Which team are you a fan of using expressions like "fit into Pep’s algorithmic, creative expression vacuum"? That's an unusual way of describing the most progressive coach in modern times.

Sacre..

Ruby is out and pep doesnt do pandering to any player
Sorry, hun but he pandered to Laporte and dropped Stones under false pretenses at the start of the season because Laporte wanted to leave.

Stones has always been a better player the more games he plays, better form and less injury problems, though he has done better this season in jumping in and out of the team tbh.

Still, Stones and Dias are our best pair, probably followed by Stones and then Laporte, Dias and Laporte is our worst combo (not adding in Ake tbh)
