Maguire certainly looks a different player when playing with John Stones, and I think he is usually shite when he plays in the rags team.
I don't like him with a passion but he has sorted himself out and come back well, in saying that the standard of the opposition is a lot lower than the top Premier league sides but you can only play the teams put in front of you.

Hilarious that pundits are describing Slabhead as our best defender , he only looks half decent because Stones has been alongside him , put Coady in there instead and Slabhead would fall to pieces.
When Stones stays injury free and gets a decent run of games , there are very few defenders in the world who are near his standard

The brainfarts and needlessly, catastrophically, self destructive decisions are what fucks Stonesy up. On and even more so off the field
As he matures he will hopefully shake that off, we’ve all had mates who were late developers as grown ups but turned out OK in the end
I *might* even be one of them, for example….

It’s mad that the Spanish, French and Italian media are all gushing about Stones and his composure and grace.
Yet here its all about how many times John Merrick has headed corners away

Is this comment from 2015?

Stones hasn't bee making "catastrophically self destructive decisions" for years.

If fit he's our number 1 CB, pretty much has everything.

Well, he probably should score a few more than he does...

He's been running the show in every game, trying to get people to move to receive the ball and being incredibly composed on the ball. He draws the attacker in and passes it as late as possible to try and make space further forwards. Defensively he's been solid as well and will benefit from having Walker's pace alongside him rather than Trippier in my opinion.

Hopefully we can get past Senegal and play France because I'd love to see Walker and Stones have Mbappe in their pockets.

English media are arse licking asswipes who write what the majority of their readership wants to hear hence it is so biased towards the old guard so called history clubs
The European press are far more measured in their assessment of players/teams
A fit John Stones is the best centre half in the Premiership end of

John Stones just quietly gets on with his job without any pseudo bravado. He works jolly hard and can be everywhere on the pitch. I’ve seen him be in our goal area one second (alright minute) and blinked and boy he’s in the opposition box ready to help out the rest of the team.
A real unsung hero is our John Boy. Long may he reign!

"He stood six-foot-six and weighed two-forty-five
Kinda broad at the shoulder and narrow at the hip
And everybody knew ya didn't give no lip to big John"

Watching him answer questions on sky sports in the england press conference and he really comes across as a top pro. Answers very thoughtfully and really well spoken and clearly a pretty switched on guy. I know he has his injury demons, but so glad we have him.

I would rather lose Dias (and I love the guy) or Laporte than Stones. Now he doesn't seem to have his brain fart moments and has cut them out of of his game (touch wood he doesn't make me regret these words on Saturday) he's absolutely top drawer.

Agreed but sadly he has a huge cloud over his head in terms of injury, he misses a lot of football.
