Was happy for ake to score. Do agree he looked a bit out og sorts defensively but I'm willing to give the lad time. He seems like he's a likeable guy and good character so usually the right profile for us. He's had a tough season so il give him a chance!

Entire back 4 minus Dias playing some of their first minutes of the season in their position, was never going to be as tight as you'd expect. Ake did okay overall. No better but no worse than the rest of the back 4.

None of the goals were directly and solely his fault. Dias is at fault more if you want to point fingers. 2 of their goals, the first and 3rd were just genuinely very good goals combined with multiple small lapses from us. Some people just need a boo boy. Did alright and will prove to be a very useful player.
Agreed. The fact that Ake is the vicinity when the ball goes in ignores the fact that the ball has traveled a long way to get there. All of the defenders could do better as a unit but so could the midfIeld and wide men in terms of working harder on their defensive duties.

This guy gets it.

It's a team game.

Heartbreaking news. Just goes to show you never know what's going on behind the scenes and we shouldn't always be so quick to judge a player based on one or two performances here and there. All the best to Nathan and well done on the goal and general performance. Showed a lot of grit and energy throughout. He looked so happy when the header went in as well, and his dad must have been very proud in those final moments.

Just read about his father. I lost mine when I was 7 and I couldn’t imagine the courage and strength he needed to play through that game while his dad was in his death bed.

Huge respect to him for playing last night,as above that takes proper courage and mental strength that most would have struggled to muster, and huge sympathies to both him and his family.

I wonder if Pep could do a job and convert Ake into a DM. He's decent on the ball and passing, faster than Rodri. IDK. Just dreaming I guess.
For me, Ake can excel as a wide CB like in Chelsea's system, or as a defensive leftback in a back 4 that let's the right back attack or tuck in.

As a traditional CB in a back 2 I just don't trust his instincts.

Thing with Ake is he's having the same issue that Stones did a few seasons ago where he'd be fine for most of the game but every mistake would lead to a goal or shot on goal.
Stones is a far superior player to Nathan. I don’t subscribe to myth that John Stones has made loads of mistakes playing for the Blues. He has made a few but you can count them on one hand , every player makes mistakes, it’s a myth perpetuated by the media. They can’t wait for his next ‘mistake’ so they can slag him off.
