TBF though he wasn’t bought to be 4th choice CB and 3rd choice LB who only comes in once in a blue moon to give others a rest. He isn’t providing any competition whatsoever for the players in front of him. He will never be a regular starter and he hasn’t shown anything to suggest he can be relied on for anything but a bit-part. His role currently is something I would expect from a promising kid, not a seasoned professional. A waste of £40m.

I know but i doubt a real seasoned player want to join us with already stacked backline position except LB, ake seems content for what he is doing right now and that's his biggest problem. He seems doesn't want to fight for his place and seemingly know or given up that his pecking order is really low atm.

I think he was bought as cover for Dias and Stones when Laporte left.
He was brought in before Stones' renaissance and arguably was intended to play a much more prominent role than he has done so far. I blame Garcia as he said he was of to Barcelona before that all fell through meaning he had to hang around for another season.

I’ll never work out why Garcia got so much game time.

Wil lnever be good enough for our first eleven , he is a solid defender but offers nothing going forwards , every time he recieves the ball any momentum is lost , only good enough for cup games and dead rubber champs league games , i think someone has dropped a bollock paying £40m for him.

I think you're all being a bit harsh. For me he's a very useful fourth centre half (although not really a left back, if that's what you're saying). Which, given the quality of what's in front of him in the pecking order, is not proof that he's crap. He looked very tidy on Saturday, to me. If he had the quality of Stones, Días, Laporte, he obviously wouldn't be at City. They're world class or close to. He's a good pro.

He’s played in 3 of the 4 games (Spurs, Southampton and West Ham) - 4 out of 5 if you include the Community Shield - we’ve failed to score in this season. At risk of sounding a broken record, defensively he’s fine but - despite being ‘comfortable’ on the ball - I think it’s too much of a drop off compared against Laporte, Stones and Dias.

Those 3 can all spray cross field passes but Ake can’t and I rarely see him be brave with it at all which is a necessity in a Pep team.

Not a slant on him really, just doesn’t have all the tools we need in a CB and I think it hampers us.

Admittedly he’s probably the best 4th choice centre half out there but still, just an observation.

I don't think you can blame Ake for the problems in front of him. Gundo and KDB have both been well below the standard, the less said about Mahrez and Sterling the better, and we've had musical chairs up top.

He's a useful player at the back, good in the air, can cover multiple positions, and doesn't seem like the kind to kick off when things aren't going his way. And there's still time for him to improve his distribution... don't forget he featured very little last season because of injury and the inexplicable desire to play Garcia.

Us doing bad in the games he starts is not just on him. Usually when he starts Pep uses a bunch of non-starters / out of shape players , like Sterling as well , who do bad in front of goal.

He had a decent game against West Ham , probably his best in a blue shirt ,won all his aerial duels and gave little away , he even played a couple of decent forward balls through the lines , Pep working his magic maybe ? Unfortunately he only comes into the side when their are injuries or a lot of changes to personnel , i think if he plays in our strongest back four with Walker , Dias and Cancelo he would be OK ,but he is too fr down the picking order for this to happen.
But a decent squad player none the less although vastly overpriced at £40m

That was his best game in a City shirt. He had set a pretty low bar on that front, but for me that was the 1st time he has looked remotely comfortable at this level.

That constant training with world class teammate and coaching is keeping handy eh Ake?

Really good form for him tonight.
