He is superb when fully-fit, a really solid choice for left back or centre back. If he was a bit taller he might even rival Laporte for first choice, but he seems a bit injury-prone. We need to keep him, as well as Zinchenko, and bring in a specialist left back to replace the person that is suspended. Apparently Pep likes Ake, he says he is a good presence in the dressing room and doesn’t complain if he is on the bench for several games. Just like Zinchenko, we need people like these.

After Zinchenko's performance against West Ham then we need to work miracles on either Ake or Walker for next Sunday because our left side of the defence is porous if the opposition have a half decent winger

He’s never fit. That’s an issue. Few decent games and injured again and never seem to be from incidents in games

He was in fine form before this latest setback. Most improved player this season IMO. However, he was purchased to step up in times like this and he is not available. It is something the club may need to decide on. We have stones injured and we don’t need another cb with constant problems. Tricky situation. Maybe just bad luck.

Is he even that unfit? Was clearly fine enough to come on against Wolves- seemed like a tactical choice today to me, hopefully one that pep wont make again on Sunday

Don’t understand why, if he was fit , he didn’t play with cb or fb at west ham , he was playing really well, maybe they gave him a run at wolves and he aggravated his injury?

The problem is that Ake hasn't been able to properly train (physio advice after a bad knock). Now, that means the injury might recur. Pep clearly was not prepared to take a major risk at Wolves or West Ham.
I suspect Pep may take the risk at home to Villa, especially if Ake trains this week. If the worst happens, having to bring on Conrad Egan-Riley with home fans willing the team on is a totally different kettle of fish than doing so away from home.
