If that’s his way of getting over it, I’m fine with it. Last thing we want is him moping about it. What I want to know is how did he come to be the last man, up against Salah. I know good players are apt at isolating weakness but what happened to the centre backs?
I would agree here.
His message is about coping with mistakes. IMO Cancelo isn't the calmest lad, but more the opposite - he is near panicking.
I think he often is afraid to make mistakes, putting himself under enormous pressure - and exactly then they will happen! He doesn't trust himself in those moments. That's not good, but we all know how difficult it is to always be confident...
We often see his body language fully collapse when he fucks up something, shoulders and head fall down, he is absolutely shred to pieces.
That's what you obviously should never do, as you show your weaknesses to your opponent, you are in a negative dialogue with yourself losing focus and it can have a negative influence on your team mates as well. Any coach will say 'play on! get back! don't hesitate thinking about your fault ffs!'.
He is what he is, and he is able to do what few players are up to on this planet. And he is incredibly fit, outstanding!
I didn't want to attack Cancelo, why should I! I want him to be great for us and fell good. And yes, mistakes happen.
All I say is, the last man in defence has to be near 100% reliable, esp. vs top sides. Pep has to see it, and next time I expect the right solution when we have such a set piece and don't stumble with pants down to lose at Anfield without any need and offer 3 points on a free to those disrespectful bastards.
