OK maybe I was too harsh with him, you're also probably right about his performances being affected by Pep constantly changing his position, it's just that his performances lately have been so poor he makes you forget about his good ones earlier.
That was my point in the original post you replied to mate. He’s so streaky that when he’s playing really well he looks the best full back in the world and you forget about his bad runs of form… then when he goes into one of those bad runs of form, they last so long that you forget he’s ever played well.

He’s the streakiest player I’ve ever seen.

I get you have an opinion, but Pep wouldn't have played him so often if he was good only 1-2 times a month (or in 1 from 5 games). He would have been sold ages ago if that were the case, and we wouldn't have won 2 titles in a row with such a liability either. City scored the most goals in Europe last season and conceded fewer chances than any team. Difficult to happen with a liability who played more often than even Ederson. He and Laporte were the only consistent defenders. The other defenders couldn't stay fit for starters.
Cancelo is a luxury player, he goes missing when the going gets tough. Defensively he is vulnerable and we desperately need a proper left back, somebody who can defend as well as offer something in the final third.

He was in the Team of the season last season in both PL & CL for a reason.

The guy had 7 assists last season compared to 3 from Grealish.

Get behind the lad for God sake and don't make another #Insane mistake by letting him go for less quality player.

Should have used him as a makeweight last summer, rather give him a new deal.

He's a liability in defence and not willing to accept rotation and being moved about, seemingly.

His career suggests he doesn't mind moving clubs and maybe he has just got bored in Manchester?
It’s telling that he lost his place in the Portugal team as well.

Best full back on the planet on his day. Would be insane if with all our problems in that position over the years we move him on now.

Also worth noting for someone who "can't defend" he's second for us in average tackles per game and top for interceptions.

He's a difficult character, a player very hard to have any genuine respect for, at times, high class, but often a player that goes MIA.

He has had a lot of moves in a short space for a reason, time to get rid this summer.

Tomorrows papers claiming foreign clubs are watching with interest how he has recently lost his place at City.
Papers for the next three days will be claiming pep and half the squad are going by the end of the month, and cas investigation getting going again. Derby at the weekend.
