Im not sure I follow your line of thinking. Surely, as a pro footballer, being able to hit the target from 12 yds is a measure of your ability.

The fact Messi is arguably the greatest footballer in history with 750 goals to his name and has a below average conversion rate at penalties suggests not.

But it's not. "Shots on target" itself is not a very relevant measure in football. Of course Sterling would hit the target if it was the purpose. But ultimately the purpose is not to hit the target, it's to score a goal. Sometimes a shot wide is closer to lead to a goal than a shot on target.

Even KDB failed to hit the target from penalty this season.

Messi is below average at penalties. Using your argument, if penalties are a measure of his ability, that would make him a below average pro footballer.

How many has he skied though? The lack of ability to strike a ball cleanly is what is so perplexing with world class Raz.
