Sterling hasn't been playing because Foden this season is better, and in general, Foden will be a better player than Sterling has ever been. Also, Mahrez has been better for the last 2-3 months. It's as simple as that. Now some of Sterling's defensors will bring that he has x goals and y assists more than Mahrez or Foden, but what Foden and Mahrez give you in good link-up play, dribbling, passes, control and technique are more important than the small difference in goals and assists between them.

Sterling is top 3 in the world in both pace and movement. 80% of his goals are really easy goals, but it's due to his talent, and not to pure luck like some here think. For whatever reason, this season Sterling's pace and movement are not being used as much, the team plays with a slower pace, so Sterling is not as useful(and also his individual level has decreased slightly). In other aspects, he's good (top 70-50 in the world) at best, and some of his technical aspects are very far from the top level.

For me, if Pep continues to play like this(slower pace which I think is a good option), we should sell Sterling. He's asking for a very high salary, and we could get good money to buy a better player for what Pep wants.

don't think you can accuse sterling of not having character tbh , maybe his technique and execution ,but he never hides ,even after missing sitters or having a bad game .
A lot of city fans writing him off as well .
i wouldn't write him off, he loves a challenge ,can see this period on the bench lighting a fire under him and wouldn't surprise me at all to see him back in the team soon and playing well again.

No,thats clearly an unfair and untrue accusation.

However....he does lack purpose and certitude,and his game frequently has a superficial feel to it.Its odd because he doesn't look short of confidence,just conviction.

Hopefully he can find the answers,because its definitely preventing him being the player he can be and the one we miss.

Sterling is getting what he desreves at the moment , he's on the bench because both Foden and Mahrez are in better form , not writing Sterling off he is a very good footballer but miles away from previous seasons. If we played a Champs league final tomorrow Sterling doesnt play , its up to Raheem to get back to where he was.
If he is asking similar money to KDB for his new contract , i would get rid , he isnt worth it in the current climate, but football finances are struggling at the moment and there wont be many takers at circa £100m or whatever he's worth
Maybe offer Sterling and £50m for Haaland , deal of the century :)

i think he's just got to comfortable and his overall performance has dipped ,his best performances have been when his position has been under threat, think when we signed bernardo 17/18 , most people thought that was him done for and bernardo would take his place ,he was incredible in the centurions season that year , then the season after 18/19 we signed mahrez who also played in his position, sterling then moved to the left that season pushed sane out the team and was brilliant again , last season his numbers were good but his over all play declined and his position was never under threat .

This season Foden has took his place i would say on the left ,and mahrez has stepped up and cemented a place in the first team for big games , first time this has happened to sterling since hes been here ,not being selected for big games .

He looked fuming the other night on the bench , i think you'll see a motivated sterling from now till the end of the season , wouldn't surprise me to see him have a great end to the season .

Is going to be difficult to displace mahrez or foden though .

Even if it was a possibility,i honestly cant see how we could sell him as the buyer/suitor just doesn't exist.

We would want a large fee and his wages are prohibitive,no club,especially in this current climate,are going to take on the financial burden of a player who is struggling to justify both.

If he was considered sacrificial we would have to take a hit in some manner.
