He's probably trying to reinvent himself as a full back.Hate to say it but in the second half he was hanging back about 20 yards behind the play when city were attacking so not even getting in positions which is probably his biggest strength.
spot on. His decline is sad to see. Or is it his technical level far behind the level this team is at now? terrible first touch, no shot accuracy, no cross accuracy, poor decision making, now lack of confidence. Will Barca pay £25m for this?I won't knock him, just point out his signature weakness, which is the first touch when receiving a pass that creates a great chance for him. The ball so often scuds off his boot and the chance has gone. Happened yesterday on 42 minutes - great counter attack, receives pass inside penalty area, stubs it off his boot. Compare with Mahrez's first touch control.
They paid £150m for Coutinho , so Sterling is £200m minimum :)spot on. His decline is sad to see. How so? Useless everytime he plays. Need shot of him asap in case we do get to a champions League final again and Pep decides it would be a good idea to start him.Disagree he improved albeit slightly
His time at City is coming to an end and it is best for both City and Sterling that he leaves. He is in a poor run of form without a doubt, but when he leaves unlike yourself I will be grateful for what he has done at City. How so? Useless everytime he plays. There'll be no transfer fee either, his performances over the last couple of seasons have made sure of that.
In all honesty a very low bar to clear...he was a zero threat in the middle and went up to a .5 on the left...Poor performance yesterday, but he looked more of a threat when he was played on the wing where his pace can always hurt the full back. His confidence looks to be shot, but more worrying is his poor form.
Don't see why he couldn't play this role. Good at receiving the ball on the half turn, quick, good game intelligence and passing. Would be interested to see it. Doubt we will thoughIt might be time to try him as central attacking mid. It seems like Pep has put too much emphasis on him being and off the ball runner & tap in merchant, to the detriment of his other attributes.
Remember some of his early performances for Liverpool against us when he was a nightmare dribbling down the side of our midfielders and drawing defenders out to him. Kept Coutinho out of AM slot at the time. De Bruyne held together with silly string and packing peanuts these days and as Gueye said Gundogan/Bernardo etc are too slow to be a real threat in that position. Might as well give it a go if we're just going to let his contract run down.
Is this a wind up?Don't see why he couldn't play this role. Good at receiving the ball on the half turn, quick, good game intelligence and passing. Would be interested to see it. Doubt we will though
Yeah, his name was David Silva..
No. On his day he is good at these things. I remember the 2-1 against Liverpool and his assist for sanes goalIs this a wind up?
Sadly that player from 2/3 years ago has totally vanished and doesn't look like ever returning.No. On his day he is good at these things. I remember the 2-1 against Liverpool and his assist for sanes goal
Iv still got faith in the lad. So many of our players have turned it around to have a second wind. If we sign a striker it'll benefit his game so muchSadly that player from 2/3 years ago has totally vanished and doesn't look like ever returning.
Sounding less and less likely that he will get the chance.Iv still got faith in the lad. So many of our players have turned it around to have a second wind. If we sign a striker it'll benefit his game so much
If we sign a striker he will be gone. Someone has to go and he is the most likely to.Iv still got faith in the lad. So many of our players have turned it around to have a second wind. If we sign a striker it'll benefit his game so much
True, but in other words he is only effective when he is unmarked or in an "open" game...against the 9 or 10 behind the ball that we face now pretty much regularly he struggles mightily...Sterling more than any other player for us, really misses a striker -
