By all means we would like Ilkay to stay. Pep in the press conference before Leeds said about that, that more or less he definitely wants Gundogun to stay but the club is above him and the club decides and something to that extent.
Strange that they're not visible in blocking the roads out of Manchester. If Ilkay stayed, the keys to a network of clubs for management are on his desk.

I wonder if the club only want to offer a one year deal and Gundo wants longer.

With his skill and intelligence he could do another couple of years easily, particularly in the deeper role like Saturday. With Rico alongside to do the spadework they could be a formidable partnership and Rico learns from the very best whilst that partnership gives Rodri a rest in as many games as he needs it. Lock him in City.

The flip to that is maybe Ilke wants a new challenge. Maybe he is looking at David and seeing him thriving at St Sebastian and thinks a change of scenery would be good.

Whatever, we have been fortunate to have him and he joins the lengthening line of legends.

There are rumours - aren't their always - that his wife wants a move from sunny Manchester.

Wouldn't blame him for fancying a few years in Barcelona.

Absolutely awful tonight. The amount of times he raised his hand to apologize to his teammates for his errors. Needs to sort it out.

Absolutely terrible. 0/10. No words on how he managed to stay on for 90 minutes.

He looked shattered at end of Leeds game and was awful and a liability tonight.

I think it is important to note that Ilkay was playing fairly well until Rudiger gave him the ‘De Bruyne Welcome’.

I think his performance afterward is more on Pep for not recognising he wasn’t quite right after the challenge.

Some people SMH

Dude has provided the assist for KdB‘s goal so fk off

Yeah I agree he should‘ve been subbed off after this but still have some respect

One of the best players on the pitch, a captain's performance. Fought every tackle, enormously good with the ball, mobile and with the perfect assist.

I really sometimes can't believe how folks here criticize him. Have you ever seen a football game?

Did you think, the team can run over Madrid in a CL semi final like a bottom PL side?

Started well but got worse and worse. Not great tonight. was crying out to be subbed after about 60-70 minutes, certainly should have come off when he picked up a booking.

He’s a brilliant player, incredible professional, servant to the club. However you can still say he had a really poor game tonight.

A vital assist. I am not sure I would start him in the second leg but Pep will keep Gundo in the side.
