There was some garbage but there was also some great stuff, both mainstream pop/rock and alternative. Basically, 60s>70s>80s>90s> 00s.

The decade that gave us house and hip hop, yet people are calling it shit.

This is it....the mix of different styles and types of music mean it has to be the greatest decade of music ever and possibly the last ever great music decade as it pretty much goes to shit from there onwards, with the odd highlight thrown in here and there

I went from 7 to 17 in this decade so my tastes would have changed massively. First band for me was the police. Then disillusionment with the SAW onslaught on the charts. 85/86 New order came onto my horizon never again went away. DAnce and house reared it’s ugly head then late 80s thankfully your city provided a genre i still listen to today. Timeless stuff

I agree with a lot of this. We are about the same age.









Btw, I've got a soft spot for the Hammers, proper club with great fans. Not to mention, my family long before I was born came from Stepney. I believe that to be West Ham "turf".

Cheers! I’m from next door in Bethnal Green which weirdly these days is considered goon territory. Though ‘locals’ these days are scouse or Man Utd. Essex is the main catchment now
