I hate to put a downer on the performance. But I don't think we will ever see Rico play again after his Cameo this evening. Just being honest.
You thinking about a potential transfer? Heard some rumors yesterday a couple of clubs were sniffing around, someone even wanted him permanently. No idea how reliable it is, but I don`t think Pep would have subbed him on last night if he was in fact leaving. Seems like Pep really rates him and is planning on giving him a handful of minutes this season. If you`re just thinking about his performance you need to take a rest. He misplaced one single pass, hardly the end of the world

Apart from one underhit down the line pass to kdb in injury time I thought he was excellent. 2 super interceptions which showed his reading of the game/anticipation and nearly an assist for kdb when he had his late shot saved (I think from his pass). Looks comfortable on the ball and played himself out of pressure well once when faced by 2 forest players. We'll be seeing plenty more of him I've no doubt

Which clubs you hear are interested?

Really?

That’s a very harsh take.

I thought he played very well, and showed a calmness under pressure that Pep will have lived to see.

He made one mistake, granted - but I’m sure Pep will view that as a point for development given the kid is still only 17, rather than a reason to write him off and never play him again.

I thought he did a lot right last night, and had the skill and composure on the ball to suggest he’ll fit well with how Pep likes his fullbacks to tuck in and contribute as midfielders.

Kid is only 17 and Pep is letting him get minutes. Clearly Pep rates him.

Agreed with what others have said. If Pep's playing him at all right now, it's because he sees a future for him in the team.

I thought he did well when he came on last night. One misplaced pass isn't the end of the world, at his age he's going to be making more mistakes than that as he develops, so if we have opportunities where we've got a cushion of several goals over an opponent, that's a great time to bring him on and let him make those mistakes.

He's 17, hopefully he can keep getting a few 20-minute sub appearances, plus a bit more time in some of the cup early rounds, maybe some CL minutes towards the end of the group stages - that'll be a great season for him and his development.

Walker's got 2 more years on his contract - he might extend, or he might not given he'll be 34 then (if he does extend, surely not for more than a year or 2). At that point, Lewis will be 19, with a couple of years in the squad, and we'll know by then if he's ready.

The exciting thing is that even if he's not quite ready then (19 is still very young), even without further recruitment (and of course we may bring someone in) he could share the role with the then 30-year-old Cancelo.

So time is absolutely on his side and if we're serious about developing him then there's hopefully a clear path for him over the next few years, increasing from a few sub appearances to a few starts to playing regularly. We can build up his experience gradually, allowing time for the mistakes and drops in form and (hopefully very rare) injuries that inevitably happen at this stage of his career, and keep the pressure off him while he's so young.

Even if he only becomes first choice right back when Cancelo's contract ends in 2027, he'll still only be 22.

A lot can happen between now and the future. Worst case is he hits a plateau a little lower than we'd like and we have to sell him on, depending on when this happens we should get a tidy little sum for him. Best case is he's as good as we hope, he continues to get a solid footballing education and he stays with us long-term, becoming a key feature of the squad for 10 or 15 years.
