82 | Rico Lewis - 2024/25

Some players don’t necessarily have to be specialists in one particular position. Their flexibility and intelligence can still make them indispensable to the team, especially when it is one like ours, where we have to keep making tactical and positional changes during games. There are technical aspects of his game that he needs to improve, but he’ll be in the squad and team for years to come, so plenty of time for that.

Age isn’t taken into account at all. Walker is either as quick as he was or he isn’t. Saying play Walker because he was quicker a year or two ago is just daft.Subs getting up to speed is with the game ,not in a straight foot race which 2 years ago Walker would have stayed with Traore. Lewis for most games is a better fit for the team than Walker, especially with Rodri out,and will probably start more.

What a numbskull argument!

Firstly, I said Walker is STILL faster than Lewis. The implication of this is in prior posts as is the assertion that Lewis will NOT improve his speed, nor is a RB; a position you want him inserted into.

You are conflating the ability to play certain positions adequately as positions of preference or strength.

Walker likes to play CB, but in my opinion, it's not his strength. Lewis is a MF and RB is not his strength.

Posters need to stop the conflating nonsense.

Martinelli didn't get a sniff in the other week against Walker, whenever there was a chase on he just gave up the ghost and saved his energy.

Arguably the fastest player in the premier league beat him once and the Rico fan boys want him thrown out of his position because of his "lack of pace" which is still considerably better than Rico's.

He's a midfielder is Rico but he'll always just be a squad player, he's nowhere near what we need, posters saying he is need to look at some of the great midfielders we have had and the ones we have that are coming to the twilight of their careers.

It does concern we when people label him a midfielder and not a full back.

Did he not come through the academy as a full back, and probably one that ventured into midfield at times?

He's absolutely not a regular midfielder at our level, and will never be one.

The standard of our midfielders has dropped over the last few years, with Rodri really holding it together.

We are in big trouble if we are relying on Rico becoming a stalwart in our midfield over the next 5 years.

Explain how you manage to conflate speed and technique?

This will be interesting to hear...

your words:

"As for Walker the speed he has left is more than what Lewis will ever achieve, so is STILL a better RB than he is"

so by your logic
