82 | Rico Lewis - 2024/25

you only mentioned speed though when comparing walker to rico...

So, there's no differences with speed then?

You, stupidly, brought Messi into the discussion opening out your argument on speed.

The speed of a 100m runner against a 200m hurdler?? This is, essentially, the type of argument you're raising.

So, let's not do this, for both our sakes!

But, I don't think anybody is arguing about his MF positioning too much.

Right back is his failing against half decent wingers that know how to move off his shoulder cos he ain't got the speed to recover.

We saw this a lot in the first part of the season, last year, where he got around a 10 game run and towards the end of that he was getting sussed out and no protection from the refs.

That's why he dropped to sub for the remainder of the season.

I can see the same rough amount happening again as he will be targeted/ bullied like last year. If Nunes or MacAtee make better impact, he'll be coming off the bench again, this season, so he has a good chance to stake a claim further up field based on those players' levels.
Can you see either Nunes or MacAtee making a bigger impact, or even getting the chance to make a better impact? I don’t think they will.

His versatility will keep him in the side as well as his ability in my opinion. If Walker’s form drops, Rico will start ahead of him. The only way I don’t see Rico being a fixture in that team is if we buy a right back and a better midfielder. Pep clearly fancies him though.

Absolutely this.

Some people will always have their scapegoats and won't ever change their opinion. Stubborn.

I was in Athens for the European Super Cup listening to fooking clowns behind me slagging Cole Palmer off all game v Sevilla when he was arguably our best player that game (and scored).
Wankers the lot of them.

There aren't many, if any, RBs who one on one can handle Traore. It would be about not letting those situations arise. Blaming Rico for being slower than a guy who out paced Walker late in the game is bizarre. He is also an absolute unit. As Marco Silva said, if he could find an end product he wouldn't be at Fulham.

The team were so easily sliced open and there's not a lot a full back can do if isolated against someone with more pace. Step in and try and win the ball or delay them so someone gets back to help out.

He’ll be in the team regularly because he’s very intelligent and a fast learner. Pep will always put football intelligence above just speed. Whether he’s quicker or slower than Walker will have less and less relevance as the season goes on.

I thought he looked dead on his feet towards the end yesterday. Just finished saying so and he did that mad sprint down the line in the 96th minute to finish the game off.

I’ll be keeping my mouth shut next time!!!

Guardiola "fancies" Lewis as a UTILITY player. He loves players that can fit more than one mold. Akanji to RB or MF. Stones to RB or MF. Ake LB and MF. Gundogan anywhere across the middle forward and back. When he was here (and we/ I miss him) Alvarez AM and striker.

We all know this.

Lewis is not a suited RB, but he'll do... until he fucks up on a more regular basis, like last year, when he left us vulnerable on counter attacks.

As For MacAtee and Nunes, the ball's in their court.

Could Walker’s form drop anymore than it already has? He has been awful this season so far.

That’s fair, he has been poor. Too much football? Too many off field issues? Or his race is run and this is the beginning of the end for him.

I’d hope he can do a job for us though.
Personally I think his race his run. I hope not but he is 34 now, 35 at the end of the season. I don’t think Rico is a right back either but I like what he does further up the field.
