82 | Rico Lewis - 2024/25

He’s had a great start to the season but yesterday was a bit of a struggle for him. He’s a strong lad for his size but he was outmuscled on a few occasions and his overall game wasn’t as crisp as it has been.
I’ve been really impressed with him so far though considering I was still a bit unsure just how good he was coming into the season.
No concerns going forward, just another learning curve for him that won’t do any harm.

Some good some bad, which leaves a question mark over the right back position currently. Not sure if Pep might but Akanji there at some point (very possible with Stones coming back!?), but Walker is a liability and I've given up hope on him.

your words:

"As for Walker the speed he has left is more than what Lewis will ever achieve, so is STILL a better RB than he is"

so by your logic

traore >>> messi

You simply don't know how to use "logic".

Even by your dumb example of Traore there's speed >> technique and Messi technique >> speed. Messi has quick feet in short bursts over Traore speed over poor footwork.

Ergo, Messi >> Traore everytime.

Try thinking through your 'got ya's'...

19 year old lad is getting lots of minutes in a Pep midfield.

Took Phil much longer to be trusted in there.

Not everyone can see what he brings, but fortunately, Pep can.

But, I don't think anybody is arguing about his MF positioning too much.

Right back is his failing against half decent wingers that know how to move off his shoulder cos he ain't got the speed to recover.

We saw this a lot in the first part of the season, last year, where he got around a 10 game run and towards the end of that he was getting sussed out and no protection from the refs.

That's why he dropped to sub for the remainder of the season.

I can see the same rough amount happening again as he will be targeted/ bullied like last year. If Nunes or MacAtee make better impact, he'll be coming off the bench again, this season, so he has a good chance to stake a claim further up field based on those players' levels.

Got skinned once in the first half and the dickheads are out in force. Walker has been at fault for numerous goals this season. Rico, none. Keep him at right back until Ake is fit then perhaps but Stones or Akanji out there depending on the opponent.

Absolutely this.

Some people will always have their scapegoats and won't ever change their opinion. Stubborn.

I was in Athens for the European Super Cup listening to fooking clowns behind me slagging Cole Palmer off all game v Sevilla when he was arguably our best player that game (and scored).

you only mentioned speed though when comparing walker to rico...
