Getting into the next stage of the CL, and also the FA cup hopefully, should help his chances to get minutes I reckon.
I'm thinking the opposite.
The further we go in the competitions, generally the more difficult the opposition will be.
If he's not getting many minutes so far in the CL, he'll see even less against Madrid or Bayern.

Video on Facebook of him from last night.
Driving out the stadium and people waiting to wave at players etc. He asks a steward to give his shirt to a young lad before he notices the lad is wearing a Sheffield Wednesday jacket and he takes the shirt back from the steward and says the kid can't have it.
Well done, James!
Well done James Mcatee. It's a personal pet peeve of mine when players give away shirts etc to kids that aren't even fans of their team. By all means give your shirt away but give it to a genuine fan not just some kid who wants it purely for a bit of internet fame or bragging rights or worse, their parents have pushed them to go ask for it so they can sell it somewhere.

Didn't Haaland give his top to an ipswich fan last weekend? Sign the kids programme or whatever but dont give them your shirt. Imagine how much more that would mean to a city fan.

Again, Well done Mcatee and also fuck that mum for trying to publicly shame him for it, thankfully and somewhat surprisingly the majority of the comments from proper football fans seem to actually be backing Mcatee. hope nobody at the club caves in and gives the kid something for the PR spin, mcatee should just post a video of him giving his shirt to a kid in a city top as a response.

I think it’s because he used to play for Sheffield United tbh. Any other team and it would have been fine. Personally find it a bit childish that he wouldn’t give the shirt to the kid but there ya go

Yeah it absolutely was to do with his sheffield loan, I was just speaking on a wider general scale.

Another thing to consider is how many bellends there are out there nowadays looking to "prank" well known people, get it recorded and get themselves a viral video. He sees a lad in a sheffield Wednesday coat outside the Etihad and he would be well within his rights to think there's something a bit dodgy going on and wants to bail before he ends up going viral, can't blame him in the slightest.

I think the kid was being childish

Pep essentially confirmed he cant leave because we need him.

Im happy with that.

Lets hope he starts against Leyton Orient.

Why would the kid want a former Sheffield United player's shirt? All a bit odd and I've got no issue with him refusing to hand it over. Good on him.

fair fucks to him, showing levels of bitterness to a rival team you want to see.

Of course I’m bias, but Id like to see him starting more games now. He offers a genuine goal threat and our current players are out of form

If he plays well against Orient then he deserves to start against Newcastle (I think Madrid would be a bit of big step up). You can’t keep a 22 year old around and refuse to let him leave if you’re not going to play him.

Not sure the point of him coming on, obviously a today player but he consistently loses every duel.

90 mins total in CL, 85mins total in PL this season. all as subs, started zero in these comps. not even Bratislava, Prague.
plus started the Salford game in FA-cup where he got a hattrick.

wonder if he were told in August he is not gonna play more than 200 mins in PL and CL would he have still stayed. this even worse given the amount of shit games by others and injuries. its not like he couldnt get into the team vs prime De Bruyne, Gundo, player of the year Foden and fantastic Alvarez etc.

I think the club should hold on to him. Pep beginning to play him more, getting subbed on regularly. Shown what he can do, just needs a few more chances. If he’ll do it with Phil, McAtee should have equal opportunities. Could end up being a starter in the future. After all, look how highly rated he’s been at the club so far (captaining that youth squad with players looking like they could also be world class potentially).

I was expecting him to shine today and its another one where he hasn't kicked on. Yet another one. I really want him to do well and get his confidence but it's not happening still.

If we sell this guy, let him go, no one is telling me he didn't get a chance at City, look at how bad we are as a club etc.

Yeah, he’s had a couple of games like this when starting where he’s been like a ghost. Technically a very good player but seems to struggle to impose himself in a game
