Has to be said, it was a worse penalty than the two Mahrez missed in recent weeks but when your lucks in that's what happens. Got away with it but who cares.
I'm not sure I agree. Mahrez' issue (and it's a common one among our penalty takers) is he always strikes it at a nice height for the keeper. If the keeper guesses the right way he's practically already guaranteed to save it. Which is why his penalties perform practically at 50/50 odds.

Haaland's penalty wasn't great but the thing he understands is that by keeping it low the keeper guessing the right way still has work to do. He has to get his body behind the ball. That penalty reminded me of Rodri's only penalty for us which also wasn't great but hit low and also went in. You see these lower strikes evade the keepers grasp all the time, they're trickier than they look to save.

I agree. He hit it in the same place he did against West Ham. This time the keeper guessed right but because it was hit low and into the forner, he still couldn't save it. Surely that is a good penalty if it is hit with enough pace and placement that it doesn't matter if the keeper guesses right.

The West Ham one was right in the corner whereas this one wasn’t. A bad pen can go in as it did yesterday. Wasn’t just that the keeper guessed right, it wasn’t in the corner and the keeper should’ve have saved it. Happy days that he didn’t

I think if it was right in the corner the keeper saves it, he was lucky with it been wet it slipped under his arm/body with the power, of it was in the corner good chance he pushes it away.

Was just about to comment the exact same thing. The fact he hits it along the floor makes it a better penalty. If it was two inches off the ground then it would have been saved.

Dunno, a really good pen keepers don’t save them. Think of his one against West Ham or loads of Yaya’s. Side netting with a bit of pace keepers can’t get there. He should have saved that yesterday and if it wasn’t so wet i’m pretty sure he would have done. Got away with one thankfully
