Despite his ridiculous numbers, I’m still not convinced he’s a great fit for the way we play. I think he’d been more effective at a more direct team like Liverpool.
He’s fed up of us doing fuck all with the ball and going nowhere constantly.
The amount of runs he makes and bernado/gundo just don’t make the pass and ten seconds later it’s back with ederson
We are boring as fuck, we have no energy or legs in midfield, we have no one who can make a pass and we don’t even press the ball anymore

I think I’m right in saying that if you compare the 2 full seasons before he signed with the 2 full seasons after, we got 8 more goals and 1 more point with him in the team. Yes he has scored loads but, the rest of the team dried up.
We have steadily over time got worse players behind him imo. Not his fault. We used to have wingers who could both create and score. Haaland has only played with Mahrez of them who were winding down that season. The Haaland-KdB link-up were absolutely phenomenal but the last 2 seasons KdB has been crocked most of the time. Gündo played some off his best football of Haaland but then left and returned and are now useless. Foden had his best goalscoring season playing off Haaland but is currently missing in action. Bernardo has lost pretty much all ability to create anything and has become a workhorse.

The point is he isn't taking anything away from the team, the team has got worse despite him. Put fit, world class attackers and midfielders around him and they will all thrive off each other. The current lot has run its course

feed him and he will score more than not. but he aint an Aguero type of striker, or David Villa or Luis Suarez etc. technically he is quite limited apart from some strange acrobatic moves to score some goals in the air with his foot etc, while with this build pressing all game also is nonsense for him.

Pep wanted Kane before him due to his ability to drop deep, even to midfield line and be part of building the attack, he had many assists at Spurs at the time by dropping deep. Haaland will never do that.

but something is wrong that apart from KDB rarely ever anyone tries to play him in. Nunes did once few weeks ago, and maybe Kovacic once before that, felt like a surprise and and a rare thing, he scored both.

going down left or right and a high cross in is not the way to use him, as his heading aint great neither the way he fighting for header vs defenders. you often see him pulled/pushed by low range defenders not even getting close to a header. low crosses might work better but our wingers rarely beat their man, if they do an accurate cross is rare and to be fair finding him in there is hard given its always 3 v 1 situation, if the cross beats the first man at all.

previously teams had to worry of Alvarez, Mahrez, Foden, KDB, Gundogan, Rodri, Bernardo may be scoring, now its only Haaland who is scoring. if he doesnt score, than maybe its Gvardiol. that means they can focus on Haaland more, as there isnt enough danger from others.

Totally agree.

What we need is a prime Yaya steaming through everyone's midfield and pulling teams around which makes use of Haaland.

In the current setup we more need a Tevez/Aguero, strong bodied, low centre of gravity who can also be creative and hold up play.

Think they wanted him to extend his contract next year, I have a feeling that won’t happen unless things improve and we change our style to get the most from him, which frankly I can’t see happening.

He’d be fucking mental to sign a new contract here unless there are wholesale changes to our squad and our playing style.

Unfortunately I agree, Madrid would snap him up, playing fast over the top football wpuld play into his hands, I know Pep has reinvented football with tic tac, but he needs to seriously reinvent it to get the most from this lad who looks frankly lost on the pitch.

Never said he was flagged but from my seat in East 3 could see him clear as day stood miles off everytime we broke forward and therefore the team had to stop the attack to let him get back on which he did in no great rush.
He makes runs forward, the ball doesn't come, he gets frustrated but yes he does then walk back onside. We should try the ball over the top like most other teams do, we may lose possession but we may also pin a team back, win a free kick or a throw in. Scum tried it in the last minute and look what happened.

Success came to easy for him, so he's not really looking to change what he perceives as the perfect playing style for him, I mean why change something that's worked so far for him since he got here, right?

Unfortunately, the reality is that he has to take his own advice, stay humble and admit that, despite being a great goal scorer, there are still many areas of his play that he has to improve to be considered a truly great player.

This brought back memories of Yaya, he would chip the pass over the great wall of China if Aguero or Silva was on the other end. Inner foot, outer foot, tip toe, there was no stopping Yaya. Only KDB makes an effort to put in those type of passes, everyone else does the typical "grasscutter" tiki taka pass.

Man seems frustrated to hell. Feels like the team is killing his energy bit by bit with every side pass. Without KDB, no one else in the squad dares back themselves for the riskier pass.

Pep should rethink the way he's utilized. I'm not a big fan of the 'giant magnet' tactic we are doing with him, now that Alvarez's gone and Phil can't even score one league goal. Pulling others away so our other misfiring players can attempt to score. Should look to maximize him rather than minimize him.

I just feel there can be more to Haaland's game than being a tree in the middle.

I'd like to think him and Doku speak on the training pitch or before games over where the ball should be played in but it looks like they're completely alien to each other on match day

I think he will never be regarded as a truly great player but he will always be a great goal scorer. That'd do for me. I'll just carry on counting the goals.

Are you kidding?

Doku hasn't the first fucking clue what he's going to do with the ball at any point, or where it's actually going to end up once he's made his decision.

In a side like ours, you need to be almost pinpoint accurate, as we have been over the last 5 or 6 years.

Which has mainly been by KDB, precision at it's finest.

Agree all day long regarding Doku, he's not a fucking clue.

It's insane to say this about a 2 time golden boot winner and the holder of the single season PL record for goals, but the team doesn't consistently play to his strengths and optimise him.

We know he's a flat track bully, so why are we playing it out wide and crossing in so much? It's so obvious where the ball is going so defenders react as such. If you get him one on one with someone like KDB can, you're creating better shots for him.

He can still do other things really well, but you see him make those runs so much and get ignored. Sometimes he's just marooned by himself up front and might as well not be there.

There was a situation in the first half; De Bruyne had the ball at an angle, on his right foot, on the left of the pitch as we were attacking. He looked up for options - Haaland was stood offside.

Kev obviously realised this and had to make a different decision. By the time he had done so, Erling was still stood offside and eventually walked slowly to get himself back onside. The lack of effort, urgency and unwillingness to do something was astonishing.

What a strange sequence of events.

He couldn’t have walked back any slower if he tried.

Got to wonder about team spirit and collective will to win when you see stuff like that.
