great overall game, but terrible terrible shooting the entire match. had a number of really good chances and fluffed them all.

Sterling or Mahrez are the only City players who get accused of being lazy, so it's one of those he means, take your pick.

Sterling has never been lazy. He has flaws in his game but poor workrate has never been one of them.Sterling or Mahrez are the only City players who get accused of being lazy, so it's one of those he means, take your pick.

Incredible workrate and his assists are more than compensating for lack of domestic goals, 6 now in 11 starts.... he’s evolving his game to suit the need and it’s making him a more rounded player, one which is going to provide a stand out season on this trajectory, he’s world class imo, totally selfless for the need of the team, love him...
interestingly, it’s 19/34 for European outings, not too shabby for a poor finisher (:

I think a lot of the criticisms aimed at him are because he’s no Aguero. It seems he was brought in to be his long-term successor but he doesn’t have that natural strikers instinct.
There was a moment yesterday when he brilliantly controlled the ball in the Villa area with a ridiculous first touch, only to blast the ball well wide when the chance presented itself.
In reality, that’s Gabby in a nutshell. He does the hard things well but wastes golden opportunities. Yet, he has a strikers instinct when getting assists. His cross to Bernie was brilliant.
Regardless of who we bring in as a striker, Gabby must stay.

4 years of being expected to be as good as Aguero - not 2019, 2020, 2021 Aguero, but the memory of him at his best - and failing has destroyed his confidence in front of goal.
He was a good finisher when he arrived. It's still in there, confidence is being built back up, the goals will come.
It should be said that although he's currently an inconsistent finisher (to put it politely), he's exceptionally talented at getting himself into goalscoring positions and/or creating chances for himself. It is a smidge annoying tbh, because if he was a strong finisher, even if not elite, we would never have had all this striker business to worry about because we'd have a great all rounder. Let's hope it's a confidence thing and that actually there's a great finisher buried in there somewhere because the potential could be as big as we thought when he arrived still.
